Are Vado's Cursed?

I'm an optimist Mr. Max yet I'd like to come back from my Sunday's ride in Warmia with my Vado still in one piece :D

Hope it's a good ride on Sunday Stefan Mikes!

Hey, how's the weather where you live in Poland? I'm in New England in the States. Today was a perfect day. 80 degrees F or 26.5 C, no clouds and low humidity.

A hurricane is supposed to move up the East Coast Tues and Wed. It's supposed to rain like heck on those days. I'm already lamenting having to take two days off in a row from bike riding. I'll try and ride extra between now and then.

No idea Stefan. Was free wheeling down a hill, changed gear, heard a boom and it was all just hanging there a mangled mess. No doubt everyone will be shouting User Error at me, but it’s my 2nd Vado 4 and I did 4K miles on the first one without any gear issues, this one has done less than 1k. I note that they did change the gears from the 2017 to 2020 model.

Did you shift to an easier gear? Sometimes if the derailleur hanger has already been bent slightly the long cage derailleurs that these bikes have can get caught in the spokes. No different than MTB stuff really. It's best to keep the derailleur in a higher (harder) gear when descending so you can not only pedal but keeps the derailleur away from the spinning wheel.

We're experiencing a quite cold year here. The temps this week are in 70s F and 80s are forecast until mid August with 70s afterwards. We, however, have cold nights and it is not what you would expect from the Polish summer... The rainy and sunny days alternate. For example, it makes no sense to ride out today for me but it would be perfect riding weather on Sunday.

That was behind my question. A friend of mine was able to damage a derailleur in one of my e-bikes exactly as described...
