Any UK riders who take ebikes on trains?

I'm considering my first ebike. I know from experience that taking a bike on some trains (the ones with hooks in little cubicles - see photo) can be difficult, and with a heavier ebike that is only harder. Are there any forum users who have experiences of taking an ebike on such trains here in the UK?

We have used trains a couple of times, my Partners 25kg Kalkhoff loaded was a bit of a pain in the arse, very little space for it and no way to stand it on its end, the 17kg Vado Sl was a much easier option. Any bike on a train in the UK ( Scotrail not included in this) is a case of being lucky whether it has been booked on or just a hop on and hope scenario. Don't let this put you off. Though, you may be tutted at and looked down on. But as long as it's not blocking anything do it. I have sheepishly got away with a muddy gravel bike on a Saturday afternoon train, just jokingly advised folk to not brush against it. Everyone was fine about it.
