And so it begins - Hydra Fat Bike Build

Ha, other bikes trying to edge into the picture. (Not wanting to be thrown over for the new girl.)

Good looking bike - love those rims on the completed fatty.
That’s my other Hydra and my Luna tuned Coast Cycles Buzzraw X. The new Hydra Fatty isn’t done yet. Still need to get my front chainring on, KMC Ebike chain, and solve the chain tire clearance issue.

Test fitted some 27.5 X 2.5 tires on 27.5X50mm rims. Nope, don’t like it one bit. Looks weird and kinda silly. I’ll be sticking with the fat bike tires thank you.

Now we have a roller! Rear shock, Wren Suspension Fork and wheels are on! Have to play around with the ergonomics and then cut the steerer tube.
Looks fantastic so far!

Got the speed sensor to work with the Tri Spoke Nextie’s. Thanks to @pushkar for including extra spacers in the box
Please post details on how you did that when you get a chance. A lot of us might want to try those tri spokes in the future. ;)

I used a spacer kit Pushkar included with my frame kit, a CatEye GPS magnet, and a rubber mount and zip ties. Not pretty but it works and you can’t really see it as it’s black so it blends in with the wheels.

Links for the speed sensor mount

With CatEye magnet you will only use the magnet part, not the backing.

Testing a zero drop stem. Much more comfortable vs the drop stem. Raised the bars considerably. Need to get one with a shorter stack height and shorter in length to pull the bars in closer to me. Then it will be perfect.
When you ride on trails do you find the fat tire mobile and much more enjoyable than 27.5?

Looks really really beautiful.

Wren is a great choice , it is the best fat tire suspension fork out there (Wren makes the best inverted forks in general).

I also love your wheels.

The only think I would have done differently is probably the handlebars. Don't get me wrong it is probably very comfortable, just not my cup of tea.

Enjoy the ride, looks amazing...
