Hello, I just bought a used Ancheer 26” and it dies about one mile into riding it, I don’t know much about electric bikes, could it just be the battery?

Yes, It usually is the problem. When buying a used ebike, a lot of people say to price the battery to have zero value, so when it does work, it's a nice surprise.

Depending on the model, third party batteries may be available, Batteries are generally not worth repair. You need a voltmeter, at a minimum, to diagnose and confirm that it is the battery.

Is it the battery problem though?

What do you mean by die?

Do you have to recharge it again to get another one mile?
If that's the case, then yeah it is likely the battery.

But if, all you have to is wait for a little.. that could be anything. Loose connection, overheating controller (for example), etc.
Yes I do have to charge it again after it dies and then I can ride it for another mile or so, also if I use the electric on high the battery indicator goes down to low. It is a 36v 8ah lithium battery, I do not have a voltmeter I will have to get one.

where is the battery?

in the frame? or in the front bag?
The battery is in the front bag, I found this replacement battery online but it’s an upgraded version, I’m assuming it should work?

That must be a really old model, if they put the battery in the front bag.

The battery you listed for $239 is of unknown pedigree, It's likely no better or safer than one for half the price. What are the dimensions of your old battery?

When we were on vacation in FL last January I chatted with a couple that had the same bike. They said they bought them at Walmart and are immensely happy with them...both bikes had over 500 miles on them. The one problem (for both bikes) was the batteries which failed after "10 or so charges." Walmart got them replacements which were problem free. You do get a lot with these bikes...dual suspension, 21 speeds (not that I'd ever take advantage of that), and foldable. No idea about reliability other than the couple I spoke with.

Jeez, fellas no voltage readings needed to confirm? Multimeter?
ohh okay yea that sounds like your battery is done.
You may be right but without a multimeter, your help is a disservice. ALL electrical troubleshooting should include basic multimeter skills and V readings.

500 miles doesn't prove much about reliability.
