A good use of Vado Turbo Mode

I've found that the stock levels of assist on Vado's are pretty generous. At one point I said that I was getting rid of Turbo Mode as I never used it. Stefan Mikes said that he sometimes uses it to get himself out of a jam. I decided that was pretty smart. My Vado mission control is set to Eco 15%, Sport 30%, Turbo 100%. I can probably count the number of times that I have used Turbo on one, well... maybe two hands. I live at the top of my area's steepest New Hampshire two mile hill. Tonight after a 20 mile ride as I got to the top of the hill I got into a stand off with a bear in the middle of the road. We both stopped and stared at each other for what felt like a really long time. Eventually I rang my Vado bell. That got the bear's attention, but not much else. Finally it walked off the road and into the forest. I put the Vado into Turbo mode and got the eff out of there! As I rode by the bear, it ran fast in the other direction into the forest. I learned that Stefan is right! Turbo mode has unforeseen value!!

Great story indeed!

I have found the Turbo mode is useful under less dramatic circumstances, too. I've noticed no village dog can outrun a Class 3 e-bike 🙃

@Mr. Max, I'm considering to set the Sport mode as the "Universal Mode" (it was explained by a Specialized guy in a video; he was talking about Turbo Levo in the context of e-MTB). If you set the Assist to 35% and Max Motor Power to 100%, you effectively get a very flexible setting. When pedalling lightly, you are in Eco. If you want to escape a bear, just stomp on the pedals!
