500W battery question

A local biker lost his 500Wh Bosch battery.
I had an extra Bosch 500Wh battery that I bought at cost when I bought my wife's Riese & Muller ebike so I offered to sell it to the unfortunate soul to save him time and money.
He charged the spare up and on his next big outing someone handed him the "lost" battery they saw fall off his bumper when he was driving away - good luck TWICE right!

Here is the question: Now that the battery I sold has gone from "lay-up" to a "charged status" will this affect the overall battery life if it is not used?
Could I rotate the new battery into my existing two other bikes off and on to increase the overall life of all three batteries? Or?

The reason I am asking is the gentleman wants to know if I want to buy the battery back? I want to know if I should consider it? I did sell it to him for quite a savings.

I would ! A Back up battery is Always a plus ! ?

If he used it for one full cycle, then it has 1 cycle less of a life - out of 1,000 cycles or whatever is "your" max number with "your" normal use.

It has already aged while sitting in storage in your possession, how badly - depends on how you maintained it in storage.
You won't increase the overall life of existing 2 batteries by adding the 3rd one. Instead, you will shorten the overall life of existing 2 batteries because the longer you keep them the more they are aging.
The total life of 3 batteries will be higher than the total life of existing 2 batteries - if you use all of them often. Otherwise, aging negates the benefits.

The only scenario when you can prolong the battery life by adding another battery would be running a shallower cycle, say 50-80% instead of 20-100%, by carrying that 3rd battery with you on the trips and swapping it when charge drops to, say, 50%, so that the other 2 batteries won't discharge much. Though aging still applies - you have to use them often.

Btw, it is 500 WH, not 500 W.
