Brompton Electric recall on bikes made between May 2020-Feb 2021

Maybe. Are they still trying to make their cadence sensor bikes work without having brake cutoffs on the levers? That's a marketing decision that should have been nixed by the designers.

On the other hand, it's nice that that have a firmware update port on their controllers.

In other news this was reported: "Brompton has just introduced an iOS version of the Bluetooth app, with Android to follow in 2022. The app runs on the recent 1-2-10-2 firmware upgrade, which also protects against the glitch behind the recent recall. If you get it all working, the battery communicates with a Smartphone on the handlebars, which can display various interesting things, and change power levels with a quick swipe of the screen."
and until September 1, 2021 "Accredited dealers will update affected machines to Firmware 1-2-10-2 at no cost."

On the Brompton US site the recall notice mentions if you bring in your bike for the shop to do the firmware update you will be eligible to receive a $30 credit. It also goes on to mention the firmware update uses Bluetooth Low Energy to connect with the phone app.
