Love the red!!!

Took ours on 34 mile round trip on AUTO mode the entire trip. Elevation total elevation changes - 414 feet. (x2)
We were at one bar left (out of 5) when we finally rolled back in.
Took only one bar to get to destination 17 miles away, then 3 bars to get back.
So, pretty easy to see which half of the trip was the uphill ride for the bulk of the 414 feet of elevation change.
Love the bikes!!

Curious if LaFree owners mind that Giant deleted ebike lights for next year? I queried with a Giant US sales rep why they decided to delete ebike lights from the LaFree for MY21 and they said "we found that the majority of Lafree customers preferred to use external lights on their bikes to maximize their bikes battery life while riding. These customers tend to be doing more casual riding as opposed to commuting. Our 2021 Explore E and Amiti E are both spec'd with an integrated headlight and will be the best option for commuting."

Never had an issue with not having integrated lights. I think Giant has a good idea of what kind of riders La Free owners are, and that integrated lights are not a big deal for most of us.

When I first started the quest to find an e-bike, it seemed logical to me to have the lights integrated.
However, now I'm glad it did NOT come with integrated lights.
Mostly because the amount of power/lumens you really want for your light(s) for safety would eat into the bike's range.
I got the feeling most manufacturers who do configure bikes with integrated lights tend to go on the moderate to low lumens so as not to eat up too much battery and also probably cost cutting of the light itself.
In the end I found a great solution on Amazon for a VERY BRIGHT! light which ALSO provides a USB charger should you need it for your phone.

Giant Lafree has made me back again on the tracks. I hv been asking for a addl battery and now the dealer has confirmed that this is on back order and ETA sep 21? Long wait.

Purchased two of these after test riding the 2020 model. Looking forward to lots of riding before the summer escapes!
I'm just making my first ebike purchase. I hope to test a LaFree + 2021 this weekend. Do you have hills where you ride? It's hilly in PA and I'm hoping one of the bikes I test will be able to do a good job of hauling (weighty, old) me around while I peddle as I can. I find the specs of 250W "quality" motors vs. 500W or 750W difficult to compare.

Fair amount where I am -- we only found one hill that the bike just couldn't really assist with, at lowest gear, we were able to make it on our own without much assist., an ultra steep ultra long one. but normally this bike just eats normal hills like a champ. In fact my son said the bike almost performs better when going up a hill than when not. It didn't perform as well as the Specialized Turbo Como on steeper hills, but a lot less $ and a lot better looking bike IMO.

My La Free does a great job on the very hilly island where I live! The only scenario I can think of that would be an issue is beginning from a dead stop trying to go up a steep hill, and I think any class 1 (no throttle) bike would have that issue.

As far as the motor goes, a 250W mid drive motor will do a better job on significant hills than a higher W hub drive.

I am quite happy with Lafree+2, done 1667 kms since oct 28th 2020. I have some steep hills close to my home, I put the Auto mode and peddling is easy for the last 3 KMs steep hills when I return home after 60 kms round trip ride on Saturdays. Absolutely love the Lafree.
