I am thinking about purchasing an e-bike for my wife. We test rode the above and liked it. We have read the reviews, on the Blix.com and on EBR. Anyone out there own one for more than a year? Anything you would like to see improved, how does it hold up, and what is it like dealing with Blix on warranty issues. Thanks in advance.

My wife has owned an Aveny since 2017. It is a nice bike although I prefer my Gazelle which has a mid drive motor instead of a hub drive. My wife no longer rides the Aveny. Because of an injury from a fall, she no longer has good balance so she now rides an etrike. But the Aveny which has about 1000 miles on it still works well, and we now use it as a spare for when my bike is in the shop or when we have a guest to ride with us.

It is a shame that Blix kind of pulled the rug out from most of their dealers by selling direct. My LBS no longer carries the Blix brand, so I am a little concerned about ongoing serviceability.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info, sorry about your wife, glad she is still riding. The last part concerns me because Blix will not warranty a Aveny purchased at the LBS. They consider it a third party transaction. If you by it direct from Blix online, no tax, no shipping, and a limited one year warranty. The caveat is if my wife is not happy with it, in the first 30 days, Blix applies a 25% restocking fee, and they charge an additional $150 shipping fee back to them. ($550 ouch) Not a good business model.

Although your wife will probably like the Aveny, I agree that their current business model is not good. I question the long term viability of Blix. Without LBS support, it makes me wonder how they will handle any required warranty service. That said, our Aveny never needed any warranty service, just the normal tune-up, lube and tightening service which was not covered by warranty.

Thank you Alan, you have been very helpful. I really enjoyed riding the Blix Aveny and at $1599 the price is ok. (I didn’t want to spend 3K) You and most others, gave the bike a 4 or 5 star rating. I too am concerned about Blix’s viability if they will no longer cover new bikes sold in a store. The big three Items, I worry about, are the Shengyi 500 watt hub motor cost approximately $750 with parts and labor? Controller cost $500 p&l? Samsung Battery roughly $569. If they should fold, would the above be available. Purchasing an e-bike shouldn’t be complicated, no warranty or a one year warranty and possible 25% handling charge and $150 shipping charge if my wife has a change of heart, in the first 30 days.... to be continued.

I just posted a thread..Take a look at the Aventon Pace 500, and if you are not in a hurry, the FLX is SO nice. I just bought the Aventon Pace 500, although I wanted the FLX, but not shipping until August. Consider buying from a store, so you have recourse, and repair ability.
