2017 Turbo basic model

I have a Turbo 2017 basic with 700x45 tires, Can I safely replace them with 700x42 0r 700x38 tires?en/turbo/p/66185?color=174504-66185&searchText=95015-7402

You can but it will have greater rolling resistance, less durability and a harsher ride quality. This will be more noticeable with the 38's. 700x45's are interchangeable with smaller "29ers." They are both 622. But this bike is often though of as a 28. Look at some Big Apples. They are sweat. Gravel is nice too. I picked up a pair of Riddler's today.

I don't know the answer to your question about whether the 2017 Turbo bike can take 700 x 38 tires, but I put them on my 2020 Turbo Vado and they fit perfectly. I made sure that my LBS agreed that they'd fit before I bought them. I've learned on this forum that the width of bike tires is a subject of great debate. I think it's a matter of personal preference though and that there is not one correct answer for everyone. I greatly prefer a narrower tire on a road bike. For me, the 700 x 38's are a good balance. They're narrower, but aren't too thin. These are the tires that I chose. 700 x 38 Specialized Crossroads Armadillos. Hope that helps!

I ran 700x35s at 85 psi on my standard Turbo for the first 2 years. Rode HARD! I switched to 700x45s at 45 psi and the ride is much smoother. Addinmg a good sprung seatpost and dampened stem helped as well. Costs me maybe 1-2 mph at most.

I purchased a new bike today. And ordered Big Ben 622-50's for it. These are fast and smooth.
