    Major Problem - Can't find...

Cantis are old school…. before linear pull (V-brakes) became popular back in the 90’s. Here‘s a photo of a cable hanger.

    Major Problem - Can't find...

Cable hangers for front cantilever brakes also require keyed steerer tubes and are usually fitted in place of the keyed headset washer.

Be aware that switching to a suspension fork will considerably raise your front end and alter your frame geometry.

I got the PNW Components Cascade dropper with external routing, no shock absorber.

Standover height on Yamaha crosscore RC

I installed a dropper post and that was a game changer for me. At every stop I drop my saddle so I can plant both feet squarely on the ground while seated, instead of straddling the sloping top tube with zero clearance. A great safety feature. Also, long descents are very comfortable with the...

When cycling, do you like listening to music?

I never listen to music while I ride. But once I reach my destination I listen to classic rock.

    What's an "SUV" ebike?

My Canyon was labeled as Canyon Pathlite 5 ON SUV. Ive got it strictly set up an an off-road, bikepacking rig. That’s all I use this bike for, 90% of the time.

    Have you tried cowboy coffee?

Yes, I’ve done it many times, usually when sharing coffee with others, on overnight bikepacking trips.

How to Switch to Clipless Pedals

If this is your first time going clipless, I strongly advise going against, due to the learning curve involved while straddling the heavy weight of an ebike. As for me, after decades of using clipless pedals, on both road and mtb styles, I’ve switched to flats when I acquired my first ebike...

    Gear ratios and climbing

For a non-assisted bike I like my low gear inch in the 17“ range, as I do a lot of hilly fire road rides, often carrying bikepacking gear, so having that low gear is critical. But on my hardtail e-bike running a similarly low gear inch is not that important with the obvious pedal assist, and...

Turbo Vado SL 4.0 rear wheel hub loose

I was just going to suggest…. Get cone wrenches and do it yourself. The fix might be as simple as loosening, readjusting, and retightening the cups.

8+ months of research, 100s of hours, know what I need & want but can't find it

In general, bikes with suspension forks have taller stack heights, so that’s something the OP needs to consider if having standover clearance issues.

I carry a hand saw as well, mostly to cut firewood because I camp often. I have the Silky Gomboy Outback. Photos from just this past weekend.

Tried a ride today on private land using just a throttle

Unless there is long, sustained climbing my pedal assist is off most of the time. Between that and in Eco mode I can easily do a century.

    Suggestions for rear light/turn signals?

Since bicycle turn signals are not separated by a few feet apart they look just like any other rear blinky to me.

Whom pays for your charge ?

Charging an e-bike battery is as insignificant as charging my phone, as far as electricity consumption, relative to the amount of my monthly power bill. That’s how I see it.

Yeah, we regularly go backpacking in the San Gabriels. But if there’s a fire road leading to camp, I’d rather load up my bike and meet my non biking friends at camp. I have no slippage, even on the steepest parts. And these 2.3 tires are plenty wide enough for me on these types of terrain...
