Winter Is Coming - Biking in Cold Weather

Dang, the temps dropped here too. And now, of all things, it's snowing. I'm not planning on a bike ride today...

I'm averaging one jerk per week

Just crossing the road is dangerous here. I stay on non-motorized paths, but getting to the trailhead is another story. I've been debating if I should transport my bike to the trailhead. But that adds a lot of effort to what would otherwise be a quick ride to the trailhead. (0.9 mile)

Where can you lock up your bike near stores

The only bike I'd park at my local supermarket is a $99 Cranbrook. If someone really needs that, they can have it. But they'll have to cut through a chain. I saw this parked in front of the supermarket yesterday, sans chain. I wonder if it disappeared???

I'll bet @PedalUma has a thing or two to say about this "thing"! Ha!

    Pedilio

I can't see that catching on in this area. The roads are too dangerous. And I'm not sure it's allowed on the bike trails either...

    Skarper conversion kit is interesting.

So they mount a motor on the rear brake mounts... I can't imagine there's a torque sensor anywhere in the system. Heck, I don't even know if there are any rear brakes. I still prefer torque sensor mid drive stealth systems!

I didn't have to swap any parts. I decided the V brake noodle was the mushy spot. I went to the LBS and got a new noodle. Also my new brake pads came in, so I put those on too. Now the brakes are working pretty good. Not mushy any more... But I did order the cable clamps... I'll try those when...

Hmmm... I have another bike with V Brakes, and the brakes work flawlessly... not mushy or anything. I think I'll swap a few parts and see what happens...

@m@Robertson That's a real good idea, those clamps. I just have to get some of those and try them... Meanwhile, here's what I was doing while I was waiting for your clamps! I printed a couple ferrules and I am going to cut the cable up, and have a short piece of housing at the front, and a...

    Stealthy Cruiser EBike

Getting back to the question of mushy brakes, do the cables need to be supported on the frame on both ends. My cable is only supported on the brake lever, and on the brake noodle. there are two lugs on the frame, but they are through lugs only. What if instead of a through lug, I were to make...

    Stealthy Cruiser EBike

Yeah, I think I'll go looking for HQ cables! Meanwhile, I just printed a new Mirrycle part. It just needs some poly on it, and it'll be ready to go!

I have one of these springers in the basement. I wonder if I should at least try it with a disc brake? https://ratrodbikes.com/threads/electra-straight-8-build-and-ebike-conversion.116576/#post-1231185

    Stealthy Cruiser EBike

Any suggestions for really good V brake pads? I was looking on Amazon, and came across this (see photo)... are ebike V brakes supposed to be a bit mushy? Here's the link to the V brakes...

    Stealthy Cruiser EBike

I don't have version B, and I don't have OSF. I have the ECO mod though... It's a nice riding bike, and it's holding up well. I've been having fits with the v brakes though, and thought I might upgrade to disc. But that plan didn't work. So now I am looking for some really good V brake pads...

    Stealthy Cruiser EBike

I rode the same 7 or so miles today, but down one powerlevel... (4 out of 5) I only used 20% of the battery. And power level 4 felt plenty strong. 👍
