    48v battery voltages help please

So, I suspect that I have identified the problem. If anyone is interested, TurboAnt asked for a video showing the problem. It's here, but in a nutshell, my display shows error 26 and I pull the battery and measure the voltage with my DMM...

    48v battery voltages help please

Thanks! That all makes a lot of sense. Sign, perhaps I'll open the battery and see if I can modify the BMS... but probably not. Based on what you are saying I already ran the battery below "safe" levels so hopefully I can avoid that again.

If you have a second, could you please pop into my thread here: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/48v-battery-voltages-help-please.48746/ I'm having some issues with my battery unrelated to your charger hack and I would highly appreciate your insight. Thanks! craigr

    48v battery voltages help please

Neat idea, but alas I think not. The battery charger that shipped with the bike outputs 54.5v. Fully charged if I let it go to 100% the battery will read 54.5v. I did fully charge the battery the other day because I have read that some less advance BMC's don't maintain balance well and...

Tom I've read a lot of your posts and would appreciate your opinion of my situation. You seem to know a lot about batteries. Thank you! craigr

    48v battery voltages help please

Thanks for your reply Rich. I am not using the battery gage on the display to make my determinations. I have a degree in mechanical engineering and am owner of an engineering firm that does all electronic related engineering. As I said in my first post I am checking the battery with a FLUKE...

    48v battery voltages help please

OK so the controller has low voltage protect at 40v. The battery is rated 672Wh so I guess ~14Ah. It's OEM and has a sticker "LG Cells Inside" for what that's worth. Its a hub 750W Bafang motor. Turboant N1. The controller is rated for 22 amps but was set to 20 amps on delivery. I raised...

    48v battery voltages help please

Thanks for your help. Like I said, I'm still learning. My question really is this, is my BMS cutting the battery too soon? 43.5 volts seems too soon to cut off the battery based on the first chart. Like, I don't want to have 30% capacity left when my BMS decides it's time to shut off the...

    48v battery voltages help please

I know this has been covered, but I still am seeing so much conflicting information and could use some help. I'm still new to ebikes, just got my first one, and am learning. It's a 48v. I have seen multiple graphs that supposedly correlate battery voltage to percent of usable battery left...

Actually, you don't need to connect the grounds. I checked before wiring and they are indeed always connected and not switched. Only the POSITIVE is switched. craigr

Just wanted to pop back in and say that this is working nicely. Good call man on the switch to get the process charging with the Vin and Vout reversed. I actually wound up using a two gang outlet box and a regular single pole light switch. I actually like the light switch better than a...

Ah I finally get your meaning. Yeah, that probably would work than actually. The "dN" setting wouldn't have any function than, nor would "dOP" so hitting the correct voltage would be a bit more crude. But I think that what you propose would work, just without some of the fancier features of...

Once the charging current is stopped by the CD60, the battery's charging port goes to zero volts. The CD60 shuts off. I tried it hoping there would be enough juice on the charging port and it didn't work :(

Do you simply mean to run a wire from the battery controller terminal Thanks, but now I see why I wasn't getting it... This won't work any differently than what I already posted and isn't applicable; I'll explain :( Upon first power up, the charger does provide power to the CD60 right from the...

All good points. The one thing I don't understand is your switch in parallel? Could you please explain or draw out what you mean? If it's better I will do that! I really don't like having to plug two things in, but it's worth it as it stands. This mockup should be less likely to burn the...

I think I'm going to hook the power strip with charger, DC power supply, and XY-CD60 to an outlet controlled by my home automation system through Bluetooth. When I'm riding regularly I can set the timer to turn on the rig at 12:00AM and stay on for seven hours or something. Then it will go on...

Just keep in mind that seller on Amazon has a delivery date 4-7 weeks from now; it's coming from China. There are a lot of sellers on eBay for around $11-$12, but I paid the extra few bucks to get it quickly from a USA supplier: eBay XY-CD60 USA Seller (link) Sometimes I'm OK with being...

Dead, no power. I just got it working in a round about sort of way. Please forgive the poor drawing quality, I only have Paint Shop on this PC. Here is the mockup: The diode is there to keep the charger current from going backwards into the 12 volt power supply (it may not be...
