750W geared hub motor bikes? Ride1Up LMTD, Juiced CCS2 or more?

I had a few issues with my R1Up LMTD. Replaced defective battery and burned controller. I now carry a spare controller with me in the rear bag. Apparently it is rated 11A nominal current and LMTD can easily draw 20A. LMTD is a nice bike, but I decided to use it for mostly flat roads and finally...

    A look inside a Juiced 52V 13Ah battery.

My bike was shipped with 48v 14Ah battery that had a couple of discharged cell groups. Two groups measured about 3.2-3.5V while the rest were at about 4.2V. I charged them manually with RC charger and so far the battery works OK. I did 3 full charge/ discharge cycles. Those weak cells behave a...

    GPS tracking and theft protection

I am using a separate 3s (about 12v) RC lipo battery to power TK419. I have many different size RC batteries and several chargers. TK419 has a small built-in battery or capacitor. Not sure how long it can work on internal source, but definitely enough to send text message that external battery...

    GPS tracking and theft protection

I ordered TK419 on Amazon after reading that thread. It works fine so far, but it is hard to hide on a bike if you don't have bags or containers attached to the frame. I boiught H2O Wireless SIM card at Bestbuy and selected pay as you go plan. $10 gives you about 100Mb for 3 months. That should...

Anybody had a bad battery in Ride1Up LMTD ?

Thanks. All batteries have this effect regardless of how well the individual cells are balanced. Even single cell battery. Voltage will go back up after you stop using the battery. Using voltage for estimating remaining capacity is always inaccurate. Sometimes you can give it a little throttle...

    3rd party controller for Ride1Up LMTD ?

The controller tat came with my LMTD is rated for 11A nominal current and 22A peak. I am looking for something similar, but with at least 15A continuous rating. Any advice ? Somebody else posted a photo of LMTD controller...

SUSPECTED PROBLEM, BATTERIES CHARGED IN 25-30% TIME AS BEFORE...

I don't know what "advanced auto" means. Is it a shop ? It is certainly possible to test the battery using a dummy load and voltmeter. But if you don't have access to that, you can just ride the bike using high PAS setting or full throttle. Check the voltage in the beginning and when the battery...

SUSPECTED PROBLEM, BATTERIES CHARGED IN 25-30% TIME AS BEFORE...

Measure battery voltage after full charge. Is it close to 54v? You can also estimate the capacith by riding the bike and checking how long you can ride. If your charge time decreased to 1/4 time of normal because of the battery problem, you will notice much shorter run time as well.

Anybody had a bad battery in Ride1Up LMTD ?

R1Up let me keep the old broken battery. I took it apart to see if I can fix it or at least reuse the case that has paint matching my LMTD. As expected, the battery consists of 13 cell groups in series. Each group is a parallel connection of 4 LG 18650 cells. Wires look OK. BMS connector looks...

Anybody had a bad battery in Ride1Up LMTD ?

Replacement battery arrived. No power issues. Climbed some really steep hills this evening just for testing. Big thanks to Apollo (Ride1Up support)! New battery color does not match my LMTD, but I am happy that it works. :)

Can you recommend to me a good bike for 1500 or less, details follow

I still want to buy a Bafang BSSHD mid-drive kit and a used bike to build a hill climbing monster. :) I don't really need it since our hub-driven ebikes work fine for our needs, but I will do it anyway.

Can you recommend to me a good bike for 1500 or less, details follow

My car (used BMW convertible) was $12k a few years ago :) And I still can't force myself to buy a new one. The old one works well and I can fix minor things. I have not changed my downhill ski gear in 7 yeas and some friends update theirs every season. Similar story with paragliding, diving...

Can you recommend to me a good bike for 1500 or less, details follow

I certainly do not pretend to know much about ebikes or specifically about quality components. I replied because I saw these phrases in the original post: "Since this is a bit of a whim, I'd like to keep the cost down to 1500 or less...". "As I mentioned I've been messing with bicycles, cars and...

Can you recommend to me a good bike for 1500 or less, details follow

I am a new rider. I have had Ride1Up 500 for about 2 weeks. We also have LMTD now. I like both, but I would have bought 2 x 500 to save money if I could test ride them in advance. I thought I need LMTD with 750W motor since I am about 190lbs, but R1Up 500 can carry me uphill just fine if I pedal...

Anybody had a bad battery in Ride1Up LMTD ?

We quickly exchanged a few emails with Ride1Up support and they are sending a replacement battery. So far the shipping from their warehouse to California was very fast. I expect the battery before weekend!

Anybody had a bad battery in Ride1Up LMTD ?

I verified that my LMTD battery cannot be charged above 52.5v. LED on the charger goes green and charging stops. The same charger can charge my 500 series battery to 54.5v. Now I am 100% convinced the problem is in LMTD battery.

Anybody had a bad battery in Ride1Up LMTD ?

Thanks! It is possible that something in the controller fails when battery is at 49v. A few things that made me think the problem is rather with the battery (some cells are weak): 1) We rode LMTD and 500 with my brother. He was on 500. He is 30lbs heavier than me, but after the ride (about 5...

Anybody had a bad battery in Ride1Up LMTD ?

It seems that the battery in my new LMTD is defective. After full charge I can ride on flat road in PAS 5 for about 15-20 min. After that the bike shuts down (looses power, display turns off). After 10 more minutes it starts cutting off frequently even in PAS 3. Voltage drops to 49v. And this...

Ride1Up Ltd Seat-post specs are incorrect

Thanks. It was pretty hard to find info about actual LMTD seatpost size. And I wasn't sure if micrometer is measuring 30.4 or 30.6

750W geared hub motor bikes? Ride1Up LMTD, Juiced CCS2 or more?

Second R1U arrived today. Both of them were delivered within 2-3 days after ordering. Their warehouse is just a few hundred miles away. I assembled the bike, charged the batteries, loaded both bikes into SUV since my hitch rack has not arrived yet, and we went to the trail. I forgot both...
