Can you help me find the best mountain ebike for me ?

I ride a Focus (German) e-mtb and it’s been great. I just checked their website (focus-bikes.com) and they have a summer sale going on. Lots of full suspension and hardtail options, a few of which are in you budget. Or, you might want to stretch your budget and get a good deal on your dream bike.

Difference between adventure and touring cycling?

Its “Unbound Gravel,” and may be the model for gravel racing but certainly not for all gravel cycling. I expect that the majority of gravel cyclists don’t even race, and therefore have no use for large group gravel rides.

Difference between adventure and touring cycling?

Check out the Adventure Cycling Association’s website at adventurecycling.org. As others have said, adventure cycling may be a bit more broadly defined but essentially both are about traveling by bicycle. The rise of gravel bikes and bikepacking gear have increased the appeal to a wider...

Experienced biker but new to e-bikes

You should look at a Specialized Turbo Vado SL. They just went on sale on the Specialized website. Since you’re already a cyclist you may find that the SL bikes have enough power while being much lighter than the typical ebikes. Yes, they are class 3 but you don’t have to ride fast if you...

2022 top 10 most bike-friendly cities in the world

San Francisco gets a lot of its points for having an extremely bike-friendly climate. The only other US city I saw with a higher weather score was Los Angeles.

    2023 Trek Fx+ and Dual Sport+

The newest Treadwell Neo 2 models have a Hydrive motor per the Cannondale website. They sell for about $400 less than the models with the Mahle motor. I talked to a couple REI employees who said the new models have been well received.

    2023 Trek Fx+ and Dual Sport+

The new Treks are available in the U.S. now. My local Trek dealer should have received a small Dual Sport+ last week. I will likely go in to check it out this week if they haven’t already sold it. The price is very appealing, and the Hyena drive system has gotten decent reviews when used on...

    Mahle X20

There is an article on bikerumor.com about the new x20. Mahle claims that 23 Nm at the hub is equivalent to a 55 Nm mid-drive (which would be plenty for me). Fazua has also announced a new mid-drive motor with 60Nm torque; it’s also very light though I think about a Kg more than the Mahle...

    Class 3 restrictions - California

I ride a class 3 Specialized Creo and I ride on California coastal trails and bike paths, but I wasn’t sure whether class 3 is actually allowed in the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation trail, so I did some research. At least on the portion of the trail that goes through Monterey and Pacific...

First ebike- mixed use neighborhood and mountain trails

How about a Specialized Turbo Tero 3.0? It’s $250 over your stated price range but has 29” wheels and is made for trails (though not for aggressive or highly technical mountain biking). It also is class 1 with a mid motor and Specialized dealer support.

    New 2022 Vado 5

Yes, actually only my toes touched, but I think the seat height was about right. My point was I could put a foot down easily.

    New 2022 Vado 5

I saw the new Vado 5.0 Step-Through today, my size (small) red tint. It’s a good looking bike! I didn’t ride it because I knew if I did I would want to buy it on the spot. Some observations: the color is nicer than it appears on my Ipad, as the salesperson said, it’s “Christmas-y.” When...

    Picking an ebike

One last suggestion before you buy online. There are several REI stores in the Atlanta area and their Co-Op brand bikes are in your price range and have Shimano drive systems. I don’t own one or have any affiliation with REI, by the way, but I have read some positive reviews which say you get...
