Stefan - you are right of course, as usual. However, for me the exceptional thing for us about these bikes is the confidence it gives us to do rides we wouldn’t otherwise do, knowing that we have assistance/support when needed.

PS - what I should have remembered to add was that we dis-connected the lights a few years ago. Some calculations which Stefan M kindly did for me showed that the lights use around 4% of the battery capacity every hour, with the management system using around 1%. It doesn’t matter for Stefan...

Stefan, More info and better photos! Plugs are coloured, so you can happily separate them and reconnect them (unless colour-blind of course!). Please see photos. Regards Steve

Sorry for the delay, and my amateurish photos! the plug with the green bits on is the lighting power supply. It will be connected in between one of the other two all-black cable connectors, so one will be much longer, and will have a “Y” shaped connection. You just pull the longer plug apart...

if you want the lights off on a permanent basis you can simply unplug them. To do this, unscrew the control unit and lift it out of the cross-bar. You will see a cable coming from the front which joins another cable, also coming from the front, at an angle, before the combined cables are plugged...

PS - there is a lot of leg power, but I think it’s mostly because normally we don’t care how slowly we go, and so can just grind on in bottom gear for mile if need be! Over that climb and distance we had to change tactics!

Of course, what I missed completely is that the lights are only part of the “system drain” - it could be whatever else is being used to run system which uses most of the power, and not the lights. It would be very useful if you could prove it logically - thank you.

I think my intermittent problem was probably caused by stone getting stuck in the mudguards, but that’s only an idea.
