A BBSHD Killer? Here comes the CYC Photon

I special-ordered mine with a 34T chainring, basically to make it fit my unusual frame (steel frame boost/fat 2.8" tires, and stays that prohibit using a larger ring). I took off my 24T/34T aluminum chain-ring boost crankset, and replaced it with this. I immediately noticed on the stand that...

A BBSHD Killer? Here comes the CYC Photon

I decided to get one for my steel drop-bar mountain bike, and installed it today. Although I have no prior experience with e-bike conversions, this was reasonably straightforward. The installation instructions were quite minimalistic but adequate. The operation instruction a bit less so. I...

Known Issues & Problems with Trek Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

It might be a bent derailleur hanger. But in general, I would think it would be a worn cassette. If it is a worn chainring, you will get skipping in the front. Also, you can pull the chain from the chainring teeth and see light. A cassette will wear out quickly if the chain is stretched. If...

    Converting to Electronic Shifting

I've had Di2 on a bike since 2014, and the only time I ran the battery down was when I did it deliberately to see what would happen. Briefly, it gives you ample warning. If you ignore the red light that comes on when you shift for several weeks, eventually it gets to the point where the front...

    Cannondale Synapse Neo 1 (2020) - 1 month review...

What do they expect us to do if we put wider tires on the bike (which will increase its outside diameter and therefore its circumference) or 650b wheels?

    Converting to Electronic Shifting

You might have been able to convert to Di2 for less than you suggest. Universal Cycles (Portland) is selling the first generation brake/shifter for $250 (or occassionally for $199). You can also find XT Di2 front/rear derailleurs that are highly discounted, and they work with the road levers...

Cannondale Synapse NEO SE 2020: 700c wheels, will they fit?

I realize this is a several months old post, but in case it might help you or someone else, I just bought a NEO 1, and if I understood correctly, the frames are identical. I can get a 700C x 55mm tire on the front, and at least a 700C x 42mm on the rear. (The motor is the limiting factor.

    Cannondale Synapse Neo 1 - Newbie's 200 Mile Review

@angryrice_esq Just to reiterate, creaking from the handlebars is not something you should ignore. This is especially important when the bars are attached (via the stem) to a carbon fork.

    Cannondale Synapse Neo 1 - Newbie's 200 Mile Review

I am worried that this might be caused by how the stem is attached to the fork steerer tube. When I took mine apart (which looks exactly like Cannondale's stock photo), this is what I saw: The fork steerer tube should come up higher than the stem. The top bolt is above the cut on the...

    Cannondale Synapse Neo 1 - Newbie's 200 Mile Review

My wife (who is the primary rider) and I just impulse-bought one from REI, in no small part due to the reviews posted by @angryrice_esq and @carsonjones , so thanks to you both. Here is how it evolved, since we got it on Sunday: I put Compass (now Rene Herse) 38mm Stellacomb tires on it...
