Yes, torque sensor! This should eliminate the acceleration surge of the cadence sensor that has troubled some riders and will feel more natural to most. Riders 5'7" to 5'11" can buy the Regular size instead of Large. No luck so far if you're shorter.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. With the display on, I hold the up and down arrow buttons simultaneously for a couple of seconds and the advanced menu comes up. I was one of the first to put in the new display and controller, so I don't know if Aventon has changed anything since then...

The upside is that the throttle (in PAS1 and above) is invoked immediately, no quarter turn of the pedals required as with the old controller. This is an immense plus when starting at the bottom of a hill or crossing a busy road.

I don't know if that's expected or not, I didn't stop my install halfway through:) But absolutely you will have access to Advanced Settings when the install is complete and working--I change those settings often in my new setup.

I am only aware of the speed-based PAS setting, which I set at the lowest speed for my wife's use; with the new controller it makes the Pace 500 mannerly for new riders.

I would say they also resolved another issue that had brought complaints. When powered on the bike now starts in PAS 0 instead of PAS 1. The speed in PAS 1 and 2 is nearly what it was before, but the ramping up to that speed is noticeably dampened. Since you can purchase at LBS a test ride...
