    WW 52V Battery Issue

I was kinda comparing apples to apples. Example #1: I started off making 52v battery packs using Sanyo GA 18650 batteries that have a rating of 3.45ahr and a discharge rate of 10a. Example #2: For the last couple of years I have been using Samsung 50E 21700 batteries rated at 5ahr and 9.8a...

    Ultra install problems

Agreed 48v is way to high for a LV cut-off. As stated 42v should be about correct that’s probably what your BMS is pre set at.

    Ultra install problems

I have been using wolf tooth 5 bolt 130bcd 38t drop stop narrow/wide chainrings for almost 3 yrs now along with a kmc e11 chain and have never had any issues. Just be aware of what gear your in and your golden. Aluminum is fine. I also run a steel 11spd free hub on my rear hub as those aluminum...

    Ultra install problems

Just a suggestion if your handy with getting into the guts of your bike as it looks like you are. Open up the motor and replace the shorter motor lead wiring directly from the controller terminals. Shitcan those Anderson connectors and replace with a XT90 connector a bit longer and make that...

My Hydra's Kindernay hub is leaking

The point I was making was a similar bike, similar internal hub, same higher wattage motor and controller, no leak. Thats why I prefaced my comment with the apples to oranges comparison.

My Hydra's Kindernay hub is leaking

Just going to compare apples to oranges here. My buddy has a similar bike as your Hydra, An Exess HP E180 with the Ultra/Archon X1 motor and also has the upgrade to 2200w and he has been running a Rohloff 14spd rear hub on his and hasn't had any issues. Only been a couple of months so far but...

    Hydra - 52v to 48v

I think changing the allowed voltage status for the Archon can only be done with the dealer software. I just checked my info when I reprogrammed my X1 controller way back when I first got the motor and there are no perameters that give you access to that value. Same thing for changing the...

    Added a 2nd integrated battery to my Luna Z1: 48V, (17.5ah) + (17.5ah) = 35ah!

When I first got into e bikes some years back I started with a BBSHD and a 14ahr battery. After running out of juice a few times and having to pay the piper for that I decided on making my own. Found a guy that makes good quality bags that I use for all the battery's I build for myself and...

Bafang Ultra motor and Rohloff 14spd speed hub on an Exess HP E-180 bike.

Hey Tomas my buddy is the one that has the Schizzle. He loves it so far. We added a shift cut-off because he was getting some internal noise on intermittent shifting. He swore up and down to me that it wasn’t needed as the throttle shifter supposedly won’t let you shift under load or when...

Installed a Rohloff Speedhub 14, IGH on my mid-drive Luna Z1 Ultra Mag

As far as being being able to service or repair these hubs ourselves I would say it's doable for sure. Would it void the warranty? Probably so ya got that. I have taken apart my Ultra and serviced it as I needed and noing full well Im on my own as far as warranty goes. Seeing how I got zero...

Bafang Ultra motor and Rohloff 14spd speed hub on an Exess HP E-180 bike.

Adjusting the front or rear gearing would absolutely change the way it currently performs. For me…. This was only the 2nd trail ride for him and he’s digging it so far. His bike, his opinion is the only one that matters. Will he swap in some other changes maybe but for now he’ll get the whole...

Bafang Ultra motor and Rohloff 14spd speed hub on an Exess HP E-180 bike.

Okay.... Went for our ride this morning and got 24.6 miles in. Not alot of elevation but alot of up and down. All single track, canyons, mesa and a little bit in the valley floor. Longest climb might of been 1/4 mile and maybe 300' elevation gain. And NO I dont use Strava. I dont want anyone I...

Bafang Ultra motor and Rohloff 14spd speed hub on an Exess HP E-180 bike.

I think he’s got a 40t chainring in the front and a 16t cog on the back. We also had to figure out the pairing of the internal gear position and the up/down shift cable rotation. took 2 minutes. Were heading out in about an hr so I’ll post up some feedback later today.

Bafang Ultra motor and Rohloff 14spd speed hub on an Exess HP E-180 bike.

One issue we had to figure out was the rear brake mounting. He originally had a friken 220mm rotor on the back with two different adapters since the frame mount was for I believe a 180mm. Now the hub itself comes with a brake mount adapter for the torque bracket to secure and we went with a new...

Installed a Rohloff Speedhub 14, IGH on my mid-drive Luna Z1 Ultra Mag

One additional note even though my buddy’s bike has the 2200w version motor he uses the ECO mode 100% of the time. Why he got the higher output motor I couldn’t tell ya. He’s a more is better kind of guy where I’m a bit more minimal in my builds.

Bafang Ultra motor and Rohloff 14spd speed hub on an Exess HP E-180 bike.

Okay after being inspired by another members posting on his install on a Luna bike with the same Ultra motor a buddy of mine took the bait and dove in head first to be another trial test on this set-up. He went to our LBS to get the bike fitted for his order and we decided to do the install...

Installed a Rohloff Speedhub 14, IGH on my mid-drive Luna Z1 Ultra Mag

Hope your ride is working out to your satisfaction OP. Later tonight or tomorrow I will start a brief thread over in the Bafang section on my buddys build with his Rohloff install on his Exess bike. Ran into a few issues but nothing to odd. Got a few pointers for anybody else adding this option...
