    Building an ebike

Have any of you old timers posted any primers on building an ebike? I can't find any recent books on Amazon. I just want something fairly simple with a front hub motor, water bottle battery, pas to extend my recreational ride distance at under $1000.

Fitting a hub motor onto a fork with washers

I recently bought and installed the same Dillinger kit on my wife's 1990 Bridgestone MB4. Are you referring to the screws on the hub motor that are meant to hold the disk break? If so, AND IF, LIKE MY WIFES BIKE, YOU DONT HAVE DISC BRAKES, you can just remove the screws and toss them. If not...

Bike kit for long road rides?

Very Interesting!! Could I add the torque sensor to a Dillinger Street Legal kit without having to buy a different display? If not, are you suggesting I might want to build my own kit from components?

Bike kit for long road rides?

Thanks Court. I want to find a kit under $1000 for my Surley Travelers Check that has the torque sensor feature George S suggested. Any suggestions? Also, what are the disadvantages of a front motor? Thanks so much.

Bike kit for long road rides?

George S.: Thanks so much! I wasn't aware of the torque sensor pedal assist feature and it sounds like a feature I want for my road bike. Are there decent kits under $1000 with that feature?

    Rent-A-Battery overseas???

I looked up the haibike your husband bought you and all I can saw is he makes me look like a chump. I just bought a $700 kit for her. Fortunately she loves it. But then again she won't be cycling the alps. I'm not too surprised you haven't found any established store that will rent a battery-...

I want to build or buy an Ebike

I just posted a similar thread called "ebike kit for road rides?" Check out the responses I get and definitely check out the new Dillinger Street Legal kit priced at $700. I just installed it for my wife and it almost seems too good to be true. Easy to install except for a couple of quirks I...

    Rent-A-Battery overseas???

I hear ya sister! I am also new to EBR and my wife and I would like to do the same thing as you and your husband. If you don't get any better responses than mine, I suggest you continue to call ebike shops overseas and see if they will rent you a battery with the capacity you specify AND, if...

Bike kit for long road rides?

My wife and I are 62 and experienced road riders who used to do 50-70 mile days but are now only riding 30-40 miles due to age. We want to buy bike kits that will inexpensively allow us to retain as much reliance on our own pedal power but supplement it to extend our mileage. We want a front...

new Dillenger street legal vs ARC kit?

I'm looking for an moderately priced ebike kit (under $1000 including battery) to give my wife a boost so she can keep up with me when we ride our road bikes. She's a good rider, just a bit slower than me and she tires sooner. Most rides are 30 miles or less, but I'd lioke tyo extend our range...
