ISO: Rad Power Battery Controller - Radwagon 4

Hi all, Yes, I know many of you will want to type in all caps that I should be purchasing the Bolton Controller upgrade. I get it. But, I'm also not too fussed and really just want my RadWagon4 back on the road. As such, it's my hope that someone here has done the Bolton upgrade to their RW4...

    Changes to my RadRover

Are those the Vee Speedster 26x3.5s? If so, they look great... worried about ordering smaller than the stock 26x4 but those don't seem to look too small... (the hookworms at 2.8" look way too small) Trying to decide between the 3.5" speedster and vee's other zig zag model that they do in 26x4

Front fork and tire modification on 2018 Rad Rover- Feasible mod for other ebikes with heavy front spring suspension fork

Reviving this thread as I am considering some modifications to my Radrover 5. I've read - but don't know enough to be able to visually verify - that the RR5's front steering tube is now tapered. Can anyone verify? Assuming the front steering tube is tapered, does anyone have suggestions for the...

Radrover Controller & Display Upgrade Kit

From the limited knowledge I can find, the voltage needs to be the same (not a problem when both are the same battery from Rad) and they just simply combine both cables out into one and the controller will see it as one large battery. However, it seems there are potentially 2 problems which I...

Radrover Controller & Display Upgrade Kit

I didn't dig too deep on this as I think if I replace the battery on the Rover I will buy that from Grin as they are in Canada and it's easier shipping for me. Speaking of which, do you or anyone here have experience running batteries in parallel? Specifically I am considering a new battery...

Slick for rear wheel on a 2019 radrover?

Totally agree, though like you say if modifying - make it look good. Yeah, that photo wasn't representative. Ultimately, the attitude of the Rover needs to shine through but perhaps this one gives you a better idea of what I was thinking: My thought was that if I go to slicks and if I...

Should I change the fork on the Radrover?

Hi guys, reviving this thread. I am upgrading my Radrover 5 to a rear slick, likely the Origin8 26x4 if I can get one, they seem sold out everywhere and I am considering a swap for the front too... Loosely considering going to a narrower 27.5" rim on the front with a 2-2.5" front tire for a...

Slick for rear wheel on a 2019 radrover?

Thanks @Timpo! Those origin8 tires look great for the rear tire. @legsofbeer I was considering the possibility of also replacing the front fork / shock / fender at the same time to better fit the narrower rim and tire. It's only a loose consideration but presumably a 26" rear rim with 4" tire...

Slick for rear wheel on a 2019 radrover?

I'm curious if anyone else has considered modifying their Radrover to have 27.5+ tire and rim on the front with a slick on the back? It would give the bike more of a motorcycle stance and would reduce the thrumming... I'm loving my Radrover and can't wait for my Bolton upgrade to get more torque...

Mounting a hitch to the RadRover for pet trailer or kids trailer

I didn't realize there were so many connection options for trailers. Ours looks like this image. Basically the trailer arm has a ball end that slides into the cup and is held in by a pin. The connector comes with the replacement axle rod but I think I can just bolt only the cup onto the Rover's...

Radrover Controller & Display Upgrade Kit

Again, thanks to all of you for the input. For me, for where I'm at I'm going to slowly go down the Bolton upgrade path. I know this forum has good Buy / Sell but I am wondering if anyone has other suggestions too for where to sell parts I pull off the bike? Note that I am north of the wall...

Radrover Controller & Display Upgrade Kit

So.... here's one for you. Bolton controller, $219 Bafang "true" 750w upgraded motor, $249 52v Battery, $529 Upgraded hydraulic brakes, $149 That's approx $1200 USD in upgrades, I might be able to recover some of that but let's be honest, I'll keep the spare battery for the wife's bike...

Radrover Controller & Display Upgrade Kit

I really appreciate the flurry of options. Especially as it relates to Grin as they are in Vancouver (we are on Vancouver Island). I think for now I will go the Bolton route. Depending on the results I might then strip those parts off my Rover and put them on the Wagon to give that bike a boost...

Mounting a hitch to the RadRover for pet trailer or kids trailer

Thank you Legs, I appreciate all of that info. I will take a look tonight. There seems to be plenty of thread left on the bolt for the nut to allow for the trailer hitch but your points are well taken!

Radrover Controller & Display Upgrade Kit

Wow. Thank you both. This is exactly the info I need. I think I’ll upgrade the Rover now and based on that experience, decide what to do with the Wagon. Both your posts were helpful. For the newbs like me I will paraphrase for prosperity as: - buy Bolton controller as it’s not money wasted...

Mounting a hitch to the RadRover for pet trailer or kids trailer

This is a dumb question but we have the Thule “Chariot” trailer with the ball hitch. Looking at it, it seems I should be able to pop the rear axil bolt on the Radrover 5 and put the trailer hitch on - any reason this won’t work? Eyeballing it the hole might need a little boring out on the ball...

Radrover Controller & Display Upgrade Kit

Hi everyone. First post, though I’ve read this whole thread. I’m wondering if someone can boil it all down for me. I’ve just bought the Radrover5 and love the bike. It’s purely recreational, I already have a commuter. I’m a tinkerer but not looking to send my bike to Mars. I also don’t want to...
