2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

That's better! But I just bought a load of cold-weather clothing! :D I certainly needed thicker winter gloves! It became hard to even change gears on the bike! 🥶

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Thanks Stefan! :) This was a painful ride! So bad I didn't bother with many photos! After a couple of hours of riding, it was dark. I caught all the rush hour traffic and cars were flying by me constantly, much of it down dark country lanes - a horrible experience. I grew tired and weary of...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Double benefit! On cold days I can use it to keep my hands warm! :D

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

I've added battery-powered lights for other rides but they're better for being seen rather than illuminating the road. Over the years I've purchased many battery-powered lights, but since I moved house I cannot find them! It's frustrating and has been putting me off buying more as I'm sure...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Yeah, will do... I've been meaning to get around to it! This week I've been tied up at work and the weather has been rubbish, with snow this morning. So it's been locked away in the garage. But tomorrow I'm going to get the bike out for a ride so I'll snap a few photos and get a post done about...

Another Frey Savannah Ultra - CC owner

Buy a gasket from GreenBikeKit to be on the safe side, you may damage the existing gasket by removing the casing and also buy Mobil SHC100 Grease. https://www.greenbikekit.com/electric-motor-engine/ultra-g510-mid-motor-parts/bafang-ultra-m620-g510-gasket.html

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Sounds good I will check that out! You have to be careful not to blind anyone though! haha :D I have an Exposure Toro Mk15 on my Frey and it's extremely bright, I think over 3000 lumens! But it's heavy and expensive. Luckily I purchased it using a Cycle2Work voucher so I saved some money but...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

It's not bad most of the time but when I was riding down the country lanes it was virtually pitch black. On one occasion, there was very little moonlight and overhanging trees making it darker. I was riding along with just a small illuminated patch on the floor about 10m in front of the bike...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

It's a nice bike, and I could have held out for the SL2, but it's quite expensive for what it is. At UK prices it's around double what I paid for an SL1. Carbon is expensive and nice to boast about, but you don't gain much else for spending twice as much. Ok, it has slightly more power, but in...

    Wahoo Bolt, Need Help

From my own recent experience. I'd say go for a short ride and test it... Even just down the street and back. You don't want to return from a long 50-mile ride and find out something wasn't working. I lost all of that data by not checking it properly... I realised my mistake about 25 miles into...

You need a snorkel in that weather Stefan! :D Good on you for braving the conditions and getting out and about though! 👍 I need to invest in better wet-weather clothing! :)

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Haha true... We've had rainy periods over the last few days and riding in the rain is a miserable experience!😬 The weather forecast had predicted more rainy days to follow too, but I just checked again and Wednesday/Thursday now appears to be dry, but cold (-3 C tomorrow!). Hopefully will get a...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

We had a covering of the white stuff this morning. It's mostly gone now but temps of +3 C to -1 C are expected for the next few days. Time to dig out the thermals. 🥶☃️

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

You'll get some funny looks walking into a British pub wearing lycra. 😁 I'll stick to my baggy clothes. It allows many more opportunities to stop at places along the ride. 😃

    I have stroke

Yep, swapping the levers would be a quick solution considering the other options aren't great, with considerable costs involved. The brake lever I suggested isn't cheap, and if you have to add hoses/callipers the cost would be quite prohibitive, Hope Tech are a premium brand with premium...

    I have stroke

Front brakes are about twice as effective as rear brakes, and it's best to have both to increase stability when braking. In an emergency stop, you'd be doubling the stopping distance required.

    I have stroke

Yes, I believe it should work well for you, but I'm not sure if it's a direct replacement of your existing brake lever, it depends on the fittings. So there may be a little more work in it.

    I have stroke

Hi Peter, I don't have any experience of using this myself. It was just something I'd seen before when browsing online for bike parts.

A dual Brake lever may help. Something like the Hope Tech 3 Duo Lever. will be good quality, but pricy. https://www.tartybikes.co.uk//disc_brake_levers/hope_tech_3_duo_lever/c556p13802.html?cookie_all=1&cookie_refresh=1

    Are We Condemned to Strava?

Yep, that's it! A technique I've had to master! :D But the small kissing gates are a bugger to get through with a big bike. 😬
