2020 : Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

The three day Nor'easter lashing the Massachusetts coast faded away this morning leaving sun, blue sky and surf. I took this ride along Jerusalem Road in Cohasset . . Looking back north to Boston in the upper picture and south to Minot's Light and Cohasset in the lower as the map arrows...

    Golf club trailer

Very cool - idea AND company (Wicycle.com). I wish them success. I actually do use a Cannondale Trailer from the 1980's shown here for my weekly trip to the Hingham Transfer Station (aka dump). I opted for the 'go lite' approach to golf lugging (above).

2020 : Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

Hi Big Biscuit and welcome! Indeed those pics were from my ride on Sunday March 22, a beautiful bright blue day. Indeed NOT today. Current wave heights off the light are now 13.5 feet. (check it here at NOAA's Boston Buoy #4413 ) . I just added a "map mirror" of the pics showing where I took...

    Golf club trailer

Yes. Same for me. I live 5 minutes away and have a membership. I hate to drive that distance with a car and a golf cart and all. Answer: lighten the load - use only 7 clubs and get a very light bag (Callaway Hyperlite 1+). Then simply strap them on to your back bike rack. I load all clubs into...

2020 : Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

Late March views from ebiking the drumlins of Hull MA (pix Boston Light and Nantasket beach from Allerton Hill on the top, Cohasset coast from Strawberry Hill below); cold, windy but exhilarating riding up these hills with pedal assist! United States Geologic Survey Topographic maps (from...

    Pannier bags for Yamaha rack?

I inherited a pair of Kirtland Pursuit Panniers (from 1988 - 1990 or so?) - very high quality. They fit beautifully and fit on quickly with hang over clips and one hook. So to replicate this one would need to look on line for vintage bike touring type panniers. I have seen some online but they...

Attaching a trailer to my ebike.

Right. Steel should work. I am assuming the whole unit is tight within a big vice before you do anything....and the process will be tricky .... starting slowly to get the bit working on true center and then speeding up. Here's the vice type I was thinking of:

Cross Core Mechanical Disc Brake Upgrade Suggestions

Great research and you seem to have a clear picture of what to do. I am riding a Cross Connect Yamaha with hydraulics and I can vouch for the ease of pressure and great stopping action. They are great. So just to add to your consideration..... would you think of selling your core and buying a...

Where Is It Legal To Ride Under Covid-19 Restrictions

Think in terms of adding risk to others. When we ride, essentially alone, breathing on our bikes and no one else we are NOT endangering anyone. In MA we are under stay at home but I am considering excercise via ebike on the road (vs. any of those crowded bike paths or parks) is OK. Just like...

Attaching a trailer to my ebike.

I am with Mike. a 15mm carbide drill to bore it then file and smooth and I would think you're OK. I am guessing from the look that the full width of that joiner section is 24mm or so and you would go from 12 mm of "meat" to 9mm of "meat" - 25% less. Not bad.

Just Joined and happy to be here...

Yes. I am a bit more slow paced I guess. I am good with an average speed around 16 to 18. I DO get lots of aerobic exercise according to my fit bit for every ride. I love that. It feels not unlike my non-pedal-assist felt and I like that too. A matter of taste I guess. Either way, enjoy the ride...

Just Joined and happy to be here...

I am the very happy rider of a Yamaha Cross Connect and am ready and willing to learn and share here. I have already posted a video about my first rides on the bike and some initial setting up changes. Initially I did make one small change; to avoid leaning down and forward too much I changed...
