Congrats 2 Trek Engineers for the NEW TQ powered Domane+ !!!

To be sure, extra weight is never a good thing, but two facts help me not to worry. 1) The fastest production car is currently the Tesla Plaid at a very heavy portly 4800 lbs, and is much faster than a Ferrari F8 at 3500 lbs. 2) The bosch website says if I weigh 215 lbs and ride at 17 mph, and...

Congrats 2 Trek Engineers for the NEW TQ powered Domane+ !!!

The $9000 creo SL was quoted thus: "With just 35 Nm of torque, the 1.95 kg (4.4 lb) motor is as elegant as it is underpowered." Notice also that the creo has a 46 tooth chainring and a 11-42 rear configuration. Clearly this is a casual rider configuration. And this illustrates a general...

    TQ motor

This is quite understandable. The trek salesman admitted that there has been very little interest in the road e-bikes, but the mountains bikes are selling well. High torque motors are a clear advantage for mountain bikes, but the road bike community is still scratching its head bout e-bikes for...

Congrats 2 Trek Engineers for the NEW TQ powered Domane+ !!!

2 anecdotes: 1) In general, crank based motors tend to be more powerful than hub based motors. Their output is more predictable and feels better to me. Torque is generally measured at the crank in both normal and e-bikes. Hub motors add rotational mass to the back wheel and become a pain if you...

Congrats 2 Trek Engineers for the NEW TQ powered Domane+ !!!

I own a first generation Domane+ (65Nm) and just test rode the new Domane+ SLR $9000 with the tQ motor around the empty trek store parking lot for about 10 mins. 1) As expected, the bike is more nimble with its lower weight, less bulky motor underneath and 800 series carbon frame. 2) The power...

Trek Domane HP+ end of Dec 2021 update

I love my Domane+ but I'm looking to add an 58 cm HP or HP7, if anyone has one.

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

interestingly the newest trek has dropped the isospeed for a strange diamond shaped hole under the seat. Probably to save weight, as I doubt the turbulent air that far back in the bike would have any aero advantage. I'll keep my Domane+ for a while, especially as all of the Bosch Domane bikes...

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

Are you a believer in isospeed? My Domane+ is definitely more comfortable (supple?) frame than my cannonade, but is that due to the more relaxed geometry, softer carbon fiber construction, or just the fact that at 225 lbs I am approaching the weight limit of the bike which is flexing under my...

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

Domane+ for the win! Recently I rode in the 40 mile "Tour De Summerlin" which is a scenic ride (technically not a race) around the upper class neighborhood Summerlin, on the outskirts of Las Vegas. I had plotted out the ride and imported it into my Nyon, so I could see the altitude map and...

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

New maps, and several new screens and tiles. I selected a eMTB type screen that shows all sorts of slope data and a cute little altitude graph. There are screens that calculate how much money you save by riding to work. Other bugs fixes and stuff.

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

My first generation Domane+ came with the basic Purion(?) computer, and when I would accidentally run over the carved "rumble strip" on the side of some roads, it would go blank or reset itself. I find the Nyon to be much more shock resistant. Still trying to think of a way to put the finger pad...

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

The irony is that Europe has all the bikes, but they are restricted to 20 mph. This makes the Trek Bosch bikes unusual on both accounts. Many other bike companies just import the european bikes with their smaller and less powerful motors. I have ridden with e-bike riders that crap out at 20 mph...

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

I bought my Nyon about 18 months ago and in general it is excellent. Superbly configurable to show anything I want on multiple screens. The nav system has some glitches, but I tend to ride the same rides, so I dont really use it. The Nyon works with the ebike connect phone app and the bosch...

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

I know e-bikes are great gravel and MTB bikes, but please give us a real road bike with a 50T chainring, and 28mm tires, and about 5lbs less! 🙏

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

I bought my Domane+ from the Henderson trek store (McGhies back then) about 3 years ago. I guess I'll see you on the Tour De Summerlin next month. You won't be hard to miss, you'll be at the front! ;);)

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

Did you have any trouble finding the bike to purchase? With covid, wars and price gouging on almost anything you want to buy, It's hard to find them. Which city do you live in? My bike is in for its 2500 mile tune right now.

    Trek Domane +HP 2021

I have a first generation Domane+. In my real world testing, A 500 Wh battery will give me (dragging my fat 220 lb ass over mild to moderate hills) 65 miles of CONTINUOUS assist in ecco, and 45 miles of CONTINUOUS assist in tour. In practice, on a full battery, I get FOUR rides, each about 30...

    Nyon MY21 - Initial Thoughts

Well that would actually be helpful on a long ride if your phone is not immediately accessible because its in your back pocket or backpack somewhere. A subtle, but thoughtful addition.
