Looking for an ebike to replace my Electra Townie 21

Update. Recently purchased a new Trek ebike from my LBS. I ended up on the Trek Allant+ 7 lowstep which is perfect for me. I have already logged over 70 miles on it in a couple of weeks and the ride is very nice. In ECO mode only, it puts vigor into my ride and I can go significantly further...

    Street vs trail ?

Totally agree. Our trails and greenways are far too crowded nowadays for riding. They are dense with families exercising their kids and it is near impossible to ride and keep everyone safe from disease and from collisions Too many “ close encounters”.

    Street vs trail ?

If that is the logic and reasoning for their decision then they might as well close the streets too as vehicular accidents are more likely to put more accident victims into hospital beds. Lol🧐 like you have have miles of neighborhood streets and trails to ride on even though I wear a scarf over...

Quesions concerning the purchase of bike

Also by Trek is the Verve+ 3 or 2 and the Allant+ , both bikes I am considering at age 67. The Allant+7 has 75NM torque with the Bosc Performance CX motor which should be enough assist for you with a 500watt battery. Try them before you buy at your Trek dealer. I have also ridden the Specialized...

Looking for an ebike to replace my Electra Townie 21

Thanks Indianajo. I do live in a hilly area and am trying to delay the time when I will need knee replacement surgery. Riding the bike seems to help my knee and joints but if I try to pedal more forcefully it can cause some pain. I had ankle surgery last fall and also have some neuropathy. My...

Looking for an ebike to replace my Electra Townie 21

Thank you AlanDB. That is helpful information. I will check out the Gazelle Arroyo. Like you, I will not be using it for commuting but rather for recreational riding and when we get past this Covid19 I will resume riding my bike to the grocery store and other close by errands. I had seen some...

Looking for an ebike to replace my Electra Townie 21

Recently retired and have been riding my old Electra Townie since last summer. My fitness level is improving but I am thinking an ebike would enable me to explore further and more variable trails and roadways. Given that I am in my late 60’s, overweight with diabetes and arthritis, I am trying...
