Feasible doing my own trike conversion?

Send 'em an email. I doubt they do much volume, and you might be the first canuckian customer.

Hub motor vs mid, driveline wear?

Nope, this violates Newton's first law of thermodynamics, and also common sense. If you're going to put out a fixed amount of torque, is it better delivered directly to the wheel, or through a geared chain that will inevitably have a bit of loss? Now, I'll cheerfully agree that mid-drives might...

Why are the e-bike sold only with heavy inefficient fat tires?

Perhaps you could define the original problem? But, the fact is there are very few bike racks that can support ANY ebike: the ones that say they'll take 80lb mean that they can take two bikes up to 40lb, not a point load of 70lb. When the reality is that most radpower bikes come with fenders...

Feasible doing my own trike conversion?

I don't think you'll find any bolt-it-together options for a recumbent fat tire electric trike. If your budget can cover it I'd go with a Utah Trike model (didn't know you could even buy an off the shelf recumbent electric trike). Their prices aren't bad for what you're getting, and you'd...

    RadRover Step-Thru FOR SALE

Sold in six hours flat. Yet there are some who claim ebikes depreciate 50% in their first year. I will assume you got well more than 50% of list for the bike.

    Help with ebike choice

Older model pedego bikes put the battery on a rack above the rear wheel. That's a bike layout issue, not a drive type issue.

    Help with ebike choice

This makes zero sense. The only weight involved in a throttle is a few ounces for the throttle & cable itself, located on the handlebars.

    Buying online

Yes, one does. And normal usage (on a 7 speed) is to start from a stop in something like gear 2, and upshift as you pick up speed until you're cruising at steady speed in gear 5 or 6. Wanna catch that green light, you pedal faster instead of reaching for the throttle.

    E-Bike Positives and Negatives

Biggest common drawback for the first time ebike rider is realizing your bike is preferentially targetted by thieves and that you need to shell out another $200-$400 for some high end locks, enough to convince the thief to go after another bike (still won't work if the thief has 30-60 minutes to...

    Buying online

Do stupid throttle things, win stupid prizes. There is no requirement to actually use the throttle your bike comes with (and some mid drives come with a throttle too). Ride the rear hub drive with pedal assist only. You'll get used to the cadence very quickly, and just like on an unpowered bike...

    Bike for farm use

Fat tire bike with knobby tires. Rear geared hub drive, you probably don't need dual drive. Add a few stock baskets and racks, and think about getting a surf rack for longer items. (look up "bicycle surf rack") You'll find yourself using it a lot more than you anticipated, but keep the cost...

    Radrover Guidance for shorter riders...

Can't quite tell from the photo, but have you taken the rizers off the stem under the handlebars? On mine, there are three.

    Electric bike battery care

What are you using to measure the battery? When the 9v reference battery in my multimeter starts to get old, the voltage measurements get wonky. Also, my controller display usually reads 0.2v lower than the fluke multimeter, which I will trust more than the display. Have you ever done a...

Why do the big bike brands (almost) never use hub motors?

Guy who makes a living installing mid-drive conversions talks his book. Stop the presses.

Rad Mini "locks up" when I stop pedaling

No one-stop shopping, as far as I can tell. You have to look around. Bolton sells controller and hydraulic brake upgrades, and used to sell motor upgrades (always sold out whenever I check). Tires and tubes you can get anywhere, though I think radpower's tire&tube prices are pretty fair...

Rad Mini "locks up" when I stop pedaling

What are they charging you for a new motor (I assume you're out of warranty). Or are you going for an aftermarket replacement?

    Hub drive or mid drive.

Ok, I'll try. First, both of those bikes are out my league for price point and amount of power. I try not to comment on specific models unless I have first-hand experience with that bike or one of my real life buddies does (eg. I've seen him riding it). Before going into the two bikes, some...

Will EBikeshare Replace EBike Ownership For Most People in Cities?

A couple years ago I did a back of the envelope analysis of the point to point rental scooter business in SF and came out with annual revenue numbers that would be adequate for a single 7/11 store. For point to point bike rental I think it's a bit worse, because the capital and maintenance costs...

Rad Mini "locks up" when I stop pedaling

As mentioned above, sounds like your freewheel is malfunctioning. Maybe take it apart and lube it? This describes how to do that, though obviously your problem is the opposite of a "skipping" freewheel. Turn off or remove your battery before doing this...
