    Camping, Glamping, Bikamping

Yes - try them all. I have rv’d it, hotel, backpacked, adventure biked, van, car camped, all of it. It’s all fun - it’s all about getting out there for adventure and having fun. Never let anyone tell you how you’re SUPPOSED to do it!

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

The app won't connect if it is out of date. It will prompt you to update if there is one. This ensures connectivity and proper functionality. I have two of them - a Stance and a Trance - and both updated without issue. The app works quite well despite all the complaints about it.

What I Learned from Buying and Riding My First Electric Bike

Kind of a necro-post here...last time this thread was active was nearly three years ago. Uhm..."we" believe that Yamaha makes the best mid-drive assist system. The frequency of repair or failure on the Sync-drive WAY WAY surpasses Bosch or Shimano. They simply just do not break. A lack of...

    eMTB Options For 2024

Yes, there are lots of trails in the cascades, but I think WA state is one of those that really puts up a fight against ebikes. Will have to see when I get there. Mt. Rainier sits right between Yakima and Seattle. Nothing but forest. 👍

    eMTB Options For 2024

Ah, just outside of Calgary. 600 miles from Yakima. That would be a fun RV trip. 🤩 Definitely putting it on my list. We are looking at next spring to move, will be ready to retire. Unless the RE market, or everything else, just goes down the tubes. Whistler too? Oh my. Here we come. My dad...

    eMTB Options For 2024

Phenom. When I can I get an e-vite? 😇 We may well be moving back to eastern WA...just a short skip and a jump. Probably do a lot more trailriding if I do - lots of new places to go - left there thirty years ago before there were eMTB's.

    eMTB Options For 2024

On another note... My Orbea OCCAM - a non-E for those trails that prohibit ebikes...well, that just never happened. I ride the ebike everywhere and no one ever says a word. Perhaps if I was pursuing hardcore mountain trails signed no-ebikes, frequented by non-e riders and rangers actually...

    eMTB Options For 2024

I don't ride aggressive enough to be picky about a particular tire style - as long as they're knobby for dirt I'm good. I have a general rule of not wanting to pay more than about $50 for a tire. So $200 for a set of tires would come as quite a shock. It's more about cost to me. If the Minion...

    eMTB Options For 2024

I've bought a number of tires from these guys - worth checking out even for Canada...I think they do ship internationally: https://www.biketiresdirect.com/ EDIT: I see tires have gotten EXPENSIVE!! o_O

    eMTB Options For 2024

Those are a little odd, but if you like 'em run 'em. The Minions are a very good all around tire, maybe about 40% less cost, I'm not sure. YMMV Here's a Loam Wolf write up on the Assegai in case you didn't find it: https://theloamwolf.com/2020/03/09/review-maxxis-assegai-tires/ And the...

    eMTB Options For 2024

Evidently the supply chain issues and rush during the pandemic has been resolved and there are lots of bikes for sale - they're even back to discounting them again. I found a link to 'bike exchange' from another industry blog, seems it's a sale listing service for bike dealers - new and used...

    eMTB Options For 2024

Canyon is back shipping bikes again... https://www.canyon.com/en-us/ A few nice looking models there. A quick glance showed their ebike range to be carbon fiber...didn't see an alloy option. Big battery option though...900W pack for 60 mile range. With Fox36, $5200!

Known Issues & Problems with Giant Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

No, for the yamaha sync-drive electric motor. A motorcycle shop has never seen one of those, nor likely even knows they exist. LOL I just did a quick search on ebay for 'giant ebike motor' and there are lots for sale - you just gotta find one compatible. They're in the four to six hundred...

Known Issues & Problems with Giant Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I would search out a yamaha tech and have it repaired. Likely just a wire or something. Seven grand for a motor is ridiculous. Or search out a used motor on ebay or something.

    eMTB Options For 2024

Yeah, the Stance E+ Pro - got the 85nm pro motor and a 800w pack. Wow! Price is getting up there too though. A couple of models on sale - E+ 1 for $4200?

    eMTB Options For 2024

I guess I'm on the mailing list for ORBEA. I was actually entertaining the thought of selling my OCCAM because I never ride it. When I go out for a putt I ride the Trance-E, the fancy CF one sits. I bet it has fifty miles on it if that. Used ones on Pro's Closet still sell for about 78% of new...

I'm on the Fence about Selling my Giant La Free E+1 (any opinions ?)

I've sold two Giant and one home-built ebikes on CL. Showed up with cash and were thrilled. Sell it if you want something else. Discount it about 30-40% from new.

    GIANT RideControl App 2.0

Yep, two current eMTB's, a 2019 Trance and a 2020 Stance. Both updated about a month ago - no issues. I have setup about six Giant ebike connect apps over the years and never had a problem with any of them or any updates. You do have to be logged into the app with a valid account, and connected...
