It drifted from eBikes in the two words of the title. You are perhaps 4 pages of posts too late.

And all politician are puppets to their campaign donors. Both sides of the aisle. No POTUS prior to 2016 ever took action. Obviously they aren't going down without a fight. The funny part is Trump is a RINO. He would have run on the DNC ticket if he had a better choice there. In any case...

BTW - Apple hasn't been a significant US mfr for many, many years. Now they even offload eng'g and software design overseas. This predates the current POTUS, but not the current Congress power players.

Exactly what policy towards China has changed in 20 years? China has their own industry now using quite a significant chunk of US IP, with full government support and funding. Washington DC built that.

So Trump has been President for 20 years while all this was happening? Many of us were complaining while Bush and Obama were in office. Why would Obama, who said the Volt was a great car, and he would buy one when he left office, allow China to put a 100% tariff on American cars?

On subject, here's an interesting take on the USA's largest eBike maker moving back to the USA: "Relocating to another country is nothing new for Pedego, which used to manufacture most of its products in China and had already moved most of its operations to Taiwan and Vietnam in order to avoid...

China did back off a little recently. "The current price for a Tesla Model 3 in China is approximately $73,000, with roughly $30,000 of that price being the result of China’s import tariffs." So no more 100% tariffs, but certainly nowhere near 25%. China did try and get a foothold in the US EV...

Well, both Tesla and GM have automated battery factories costing far in excess of $20M. Battery fabrication is extremely automated. Cost of raw materials is a global commodity. So if China has a huge advantage in battery pricing, it's not labor or materials. China sees EV tech as the future...

2018 SDuro Trekking 6.0 (Yamaha) review

My thoughts on various comments, in no particular order: The smaller front not only maximizes force on the chain, it also makes the most slack in the chain. So maximum force, loosest chain is: Small Front, Little Rear. Minimum force on chain is Big Front, Big Rear, and since the gearing is...

Yeah, that makes me want to move to AZ. Wait. The AZ electric car infrastructure is even worse than California. Oh, and you can smell Phoenix before you get there. You can't see it from the air on smoggy day. Worse than LA. The only CHSR that made sense was LA-LV. California fought that...

California set aside funds for "EV Corridors" statewide in Dec 2015. Not one station has been installed after $400 million spent. The CHSR will cost a minimum of $77 billion be limited to 100 mph max, and ready no earlier than 2035. It will be obsolete 10 years before it's completion...

2018 SDuro Trekking 6.0 (Yamaha) review

DOH! My bad. I looked closer at the sidewall rating. It is 36psi min, 87 max, I've been running them at 45 psig even though I thought the suggested pressure was 36. Tires were flat as shipped. I still think the tire and rim sizes were not wise for a rough road, long distance bike. But that...

    Extra "Yamaha" Battery- US Aftermarket

Best I can tell the Yamaha battery uses 2 connectors only even though there are 3 on the battery. This means any battery you make fit is going to work with the battery charger it comes with. The power meter is simply a a volt gauge. It's easy to test if you have a variable DC power supply...

    Extra "Yamaha" Battery- US Aftermarket

The factory Yamaha battery is Made In China (printed right on the box) from Japanese Panasonic(?) cells, AFAIK. Samsung or LG would be South Korean. Lots of Chinese batteries will brag about sourcing Samsung, LG, or Panasonic cells. While I haven't cut open a Yamaha battery, it's probably...

2018 SDuro Trekking 6.0 (Yamaha) review

Note: I might sound too picky, but my review is referenced from Priority Embark (Bosch) $3000 at Costco, and a Jetson Adventure (Hub) at $1000 from Costco. The things I mentioned as bugs on the Sduro Trekking 6.0, are in comparison. Both others are lighter as sold with similar weight ratings...

    Extra "Yamaha" Battery- US Aftermarket

It is amazing they are able to charge (har) over $1600 per kWh for Li batteries that aren't even automotive quality. To put that in perspective, a Tesla Model S 100 battery would be $160,000 dollars with a 2 year warranty. Somebody will come up with a solution. I don't know where I read it...

2018 SDuro Trekking 6.0 (Yamaha) review

Well, there are still some of these at stores, so I thought I'd do a late review. These were 33% off on the Haibike website, so it's quite a bargain at $1,999 USD. Shipping was prompt and free, with the option to have it delivered to a bike shop and assembled for free. A website error did not...

    Are Haibikes huge?

Yes the XL 2018 Trekking is very tall. 85cm (33.5") stepover to the bar measured. I would not recommend it for anyone who is 6'1" or shorter, perhaps 6'3" and up. But I ride a KTM 500EXC, so I'm very used to 'tip-toe' ride heights. It works for me at 6'1" x 34" inseam. But one more inch...

Known Issues & Problems with Haibike Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

If you just received a boxed eBike (2018 Haibike Sduro Trekking 6.0, Yamaha) and it was delivered with 0% SOC on the battery, that is pushing the button has no response at all, what would you do? The 500 Wh battery took 3.5h to charge to 100%, and the battery functions, but long term storage of...

Snap sound during hard cranking in taller gears?

Thanks. I should have considered the chain length slack with that gear selection. I will double check the cable tension. It did feel like it jumped teeth but I'd never seen it on derailleur before, just dirt bikes.
