[confused] Torque sensor, gear ratio, pedal assist

It only has a PAS sensor at the hub (a magnet ring built into the cassette lock ring and a sensor in the right dropout) which only detects whether you are pedaling or not.

[confused] Torque sensor, gear ratio, pedal assist

Why do you need a torque sensor with a hub motor system? I ride an Orbea Gain with an X35 system and it works just fine. Pretty seamless. If I want more power, I just push the button to go up another assistance level. What am I missing?

    specialized creo 2

There are advantages and disadvantages to both hub and bottom bracket drive motors. There's a mountain ride I do that is a 12 mile climb, 3800', average gradient 5.5% with a 15% short segment right at the end. I have a Gain with the X35 system. It climbs just fine except for the last segment...

    specialized creo 2

I'd like to see a report from someone that owned and did long rides on a Creo 1 and upgraded to a Creo 2 and can comment on the range and performance/rideability after turning down the power. I turned down the level 1 (eco mode) power 15% on my Orbea Gain, and I noticed no increase in battery...

    specialized creo 2

I'd like to see that proved. You're talking about a power reduction of almost 50% in eco mode. That's a serious power reduction and I'm skeptical about the rideablity of the bike in that mode and if the range would be that much increased. I'm not about to plunk down big money on the bike based...

    specialized creo 2

Nobody mentioned that the range of the Creo 2 in eco mode is only 43 miles (recent review in Bicycling). V1 is 80 miles. If that's true, V2 is unsuited to anyone that does long road rides. I guess for a gravel bike that range is OK? The Creo was on my short list but now crossed off the list. The...

    Range extender battery lost capacity

I think my range extender may be OK. I charged it and the bike internal battery separately instead of serially, and I got 24 miles out of it as the light changed to orange (50% power) in Level 1 power. That seems way better than what I got out of it yesterday. Seems like the battery didn't fully...

    Range extender battery lost capacity

My Orbea Gain range extender has lost capacity. I got less than 15 miles out of it in the level 1 setting and it normally should have lasted much longer. I've had it for at least several years, although the bike only gets ridden at most once a week. What's my options? Buy a new one? Can Orbea...

    Orbea Gain M20i Mahle X35+ observations/performance - is it a 20mph bike?

You are only going to get drag (if there is any) by coasting, not pedaling. I can coast downhill as fast as everyone else on unpowered bikes, so if there's drag, there isn't much. You can see some drag by spinning the rear wheel in a workstand and the wheel stops spinning much sooner than an...

Pink ring of death when range extender battery discharges to zero.

Mine does the same thing as the OP's. When the light is flashing, you can't change the motor power settings. A quick turn off and on fixes the problem. I haven't been to the shop but maybe there's a firmware update that fixes the problem.

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

How would this dongle work on a US model that has a 20 mph cutoff? What are the downsides to using the dongle?

    Gain Battery Issue

What is the error? You can read it on the Orbea app. Dealer only firmware update. I had my extender battery replaced, and when the new one is depleted, it flashes the pink light. I have to turn the system off and back on to clear it.

Range extender - alternate mounting options?

I think you're better off figuring out how to mount a second water bottle than trying to change the location of the range extender battery. I've been wearing a Camelbak when I need more than one water bottle. I tried a water bottle cage adapter that can mount two cages side by side, but my legs...

    5000 miles with Orbea Gain

On the 20 mph cutoff, the fact is the hub motor doesn't make as much power over 20 mph anyway, so if the cutoff were raised to a higher mph, it wouldn't do much. Someone came out with one of those dongle things to raise the cutoff, and the consensus was it wasn't worth it. I'm not saying it...

    Tubeless tyres

I would not recommended that Rene Herse tires be run tubeless. I had sealant bleed through the casing, a bubble in the tread, and permanently stretched out beads making a remounted tire almost impossible to inflate. The Gravel King is a good tire for tubeless. I use Hutchinson Overides on my...

    Battery capacity

Watch out for that 80% thing, as the system does a battery balance after it reaches 100% charge. You may get an error code and the system won't work properly if you don't (at least occasionally, from what I read in another thread) let it do a battery balance.

    Balance Charging? 100% Charging?

So battery balancing occurs at the end of a full charge. Now, wouldn't charging your battery to the recommended 80% to extend the life f-up the battery because the balancing operation wouldn't occur?

    201 bms im balance

I don't think it's the extender battery because it was powered off. It's also a new extender battery that I've only used a few times.

    201 bms im balance

I had another flashing light yesterday. I don't remember the exact code, but it said something like cell undervoltage. I was on a ride and had already depleted the extender battery (its power light was off), and the pink light was flashing. I couldn't change the power setting. I turned the...

    201 bms im balance

I got my bike back today from the bike shop and it was fixed under warranty. They replaced the range extender battery.
