Bike Mirror Options: Handlebar, Helmet, Glasses Mounted

I went with the Hafny bar end mirror. The polished stainless steel surface is not as perfect optically as a glass one, but seems good enough to spot a vehicle approaching from behind you. A flat mirror just doesn't have the field of view I need. None of the dozens of motorcycles I've owned...

Think tolerance for e-bikes is common? think again!

A boat-style air horn might wake them up.... might even be fun to see them jump!

    Captain Kirk pilots an eBike

Today's LA Times had an article about William Shatner, who is 87 years old and has recently discovered e-biking. He took one ride and bought bikes for his entire family. He stays fit riding horses and swimming, but is firmly hooked on e-biking. A quote: "An electric bike is magic"....."the...

Known Issues & Problems with GenZe Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

If there's one thing I hate about the e101, it's the knobby tires. Buzzy and lacking traction on the street. Changing them is my next project. Ms. Z's e102 has proper street tires, but the rear wheel needs a bit of truing as delivered. Something well within my expertise, but not for...

    GenZe at Costco

Thanks for that info. I laugh at the naysayers who think that a 47 pound e-bike is heavy; looking at the others on this site (especially the homebuilt ones) almost none of them weigh much less. My old Specialized Rockhopper weighs 29. The GenZe battery weighs nearly 5. The rest is motor...

    Car Power Inverter

Costco had those recently for $500. I've got a Honda e2000 that produces the same power, but it cost double that! As for solar, I have a 100W panel and controller (also from Costco). It's going on top of my 6 x 12 box trailer, which is set up to haul and work on two wheeled vehicles. Will...

    How steep is your hill?

I think you meant to type "Twelve percent." 12 degrees is more than double that!

    How steep is your hill?

We live up half a mile of 10% grade. My genZe e101 will climb it on motor only at 18 - 20 mph. That's the reason I bought an e-bike! Goes double for Ms. Zippy. If I want to go any faster on two wheels, there are a number of motorcycles in my garage...;)

Bike Mirror Options: Handlebar, Helmet, Glasses Mounted

Do any of these mirrors have convex glass? I have bar end mirrors on more than one motorcycle that do. They are similar to the one from M-factory on the other thread. I need a better field of view than flat glass offers.

First Trip To The Grocery Store

Hi Amy, the genZes come with a fairly sturdy centerstand. One of the features I like. A sidestand is an optional extra. Trailer? The bike has enough trouble making it up our hill as-is. Plus I spent many years towing RV trailers as part of my job. Had enough of that. And I have no trouble...

First Trip To The Grocery Store

I've got a pair of Wald 582 folding wire side baskets on order for my new genZe e101. Our local grocery store is about 5 miles away, and I intend to use the bike for shopping there. Adding weight to the front ruins the steering IMHO. And I like the centerstand as it makes loading and...

    New e-bikers in Inland SoCal

I callled our State Farm agent yesterday and asked about theft coverage. Turns out that it's part of our homeowner's comprehensive coverage, with a $500 deductible. I've quit worrying.

    New e-bikers in Inland SoCal

I've already scoped out the local Costco for a safe place to lock it up. Need to speak to the manager of our local grocery store, too. We were maybe a mile from home on that first ride when my wife told me she would have to push the rest of the way. I told her no, just switch to "zero" and...

    GenZe at Costco

Some of us don't want a DIY kit, and are not hard core enough to spend motorcycle money on an e-bike. My wife and I trust Costco for quality products, places like Wal-mart not so much. Our GenZes came ready to ride, have a decent warranty and apparently excellent customer service. I got an...

    His and hers GenZes

Hi all, we have purchased a pair of GenZe e-bikes from Costco, an e101 for me and an e102 for my wife. So far we've only gone on one longer ride, and there is a lot of roadwork that is getting in the way. There is a bike trail along the Santa Ana river that we will ride soon. So far I've...

    New e-bikers in Inland SoCal

Hello there fellow e-bikers. I've been on two wheels for decades, both motorized and pedal-powered. I used to ride to work one day per week on my road bike or tandem (with a co-worker), on various motorcycles otherwise. But I'm retired now and my wife and I are living in a house that's up a...
