I need help with an issue regarding a Specialized factory new Brose motor for my 2018 Turbo Vado 3.0 bike and BLOKS. This is a Class 3 ebike, i.e., 28 mph, with about 7-8k miles on the clock A very short history. I purchased a new motor through my LBS when the old motor was making creaking and...

VADO 3.0 - Specialized Brose 1.2s motor - Serial Number?

Thanks, TS! The four screws are on the bottom, or underside of the housing or are the on the two sides. I've looked at several YouTube videos and they seem to indicate removing the crank arm (with a puller) and another bracket. From your message, all I need to do is remove four screws...

VADO 3.0 - Specialized Brose 1.2s motor - Serial Number?

A new Specialized motor was installed in my 2017/18 Turbo VADO - Class 3 bike by my LBS . I asked the dealer for a detailed receipt showing the new motor serial number and some kind of document showing the warranty terms and period for the new motor. I was informed that information is not...

Expiring Battery, or Expiring Controller, or Expiring Rider??

No, range is about the same, but I believe I feel less assistance while pedaling. I have the old style display which only shows remaining bars of power, not voltage. And lately, morning temps when I ride have been in the high 20s to mid 30s. I know cold temps affect range but that’s not the issue.

Expiring Battery, or Expiring Controller, or Expiring Rider??

Need some help, please. So, I am a 77 year owner of a Vado 3.0 purchased during the summer of 2018. I have about 7k or 8k on the bike, currently riding about 85 miles a week. For the past three weeks or so, I am finding it increasing difficult to pedal at my usual pace, usually in the first...

    Vado 3 motor lifespan? Options?

By the end of the year, I should have about 9k miles on my Vado3.0. I believe it’s a 2017 model year. Still on the original battery. (Oh crap, did I just jinx myself?). I love this bike; I have it set up perfectly with shorten bars, modified cassette and larger chain ring. I’m riding on average...

    New bikes transport to home!

Wow! Two Comos and your LBS didn’t even offer to deliver them to your house. Not much customer service there! My LBS picks up and delivers bikes, not only for new bike purchases but for major service as well. Advantage of small town lining I guess.

    Vado Handlebar modifications solutions/suggestion please

Three years ago when I moved from my Trek road bike to a Vado 3.0, i felt like my arm were flapping in the wind with the wide bars. I removed all the hardware from the handlebars, cut an inch and a half from each end reinstalled the hardware. Perfect! My arms were tight against my body. Almost...

How Safe Is Your Local Bike Path?

I ride a mix of roads and trails. I made my own mask from a red bandana napkin, elastic and a hot glue gun. I’ve recently started wearing the mask only on the trails, not because I’m worried but why not? Why take a chance however small. It doesn’t bother me while riding. However I typically...

    Specialized Vado 3 Brake Upgrade??

Thank you all for your comments and advice. Its very clear to me that I need to become more knowledgeable about the parts and operation of hydraulic disk brakes. No, I don’t ride in mountainous areas but I’ve hade to make two emergency stops at intersections. I believe I would be more...

    Chain ring tooth selection

Wow! As the Aussies say, Good on ya mate! Fortunately, Lewes is not a city but rather a relatively small town with wide open roads, many with 8 foot bike lanes. We have bike trails paralleling the coast line. Good location for biking. Cheers

    Chain ring tooth selection

Yikes! 2018. It‘s true, time does go faster as one gets older. I’ll be 77 in two months. Bike speed on trails in Delaware state parks is limited to 20 mph as the authorities do not want tourists (who bring considerable revenue to the local economy) run down by ebikes. I typically ride between...

    Chain ring tooth selection

Hey Bell, I too did a lot of riding on my old Trek road bike but age was beginning to catch up. Hence, the Vado. Like you, I felt the gearing needed to be adjusted. I went with a 48t chain ring to stop using only the three smallest gears. At the same time I went with a new Shimano cassette...

Step over or step through for men?

If your crotch is being crushed when you are standing flat footed over the bike's top tube, then your bike's frame is too large for you. You should go to a smaller frame. You should have 2 inches of clearance between the top tube and your crotch. This is one of the standard measures for sizing...

How many times have you heard "that's cheating!"? ?

I turned the tables slightly yesterday during my 19 mile ride. I was on a paved bike trail and saw three riders on road bikes about 1/2 mile ahead of me. I upped my cadence and managed to catch then as the trail turned to cinder and entered the woods. So I sat back about 30 feet and just...
