2020 Vado 4.0 broken battery pin

I think I may be the unluckiest Turbo Vado owner. Leaving work the other day I slap in the battery and notice the display showing a “No Battery” warning. Thinking it meant the coin battery in the TCD I replaced it but continued to get the same error. I noticed on my ride home that the power...

    Specialized/Brose motor failures?

Wow, last time this happened it was about 2 weeks to get the part from Specialized, and that was pre-pandemic.

    Specialized/Brose motor failures?

I got a 2018 Turbo Vado 3, that was replaced by Specialized after less than two years due to a cracked frame at the motor housing at 3000 miles. They replaced it with a 2020 Turbo Vado 4. The motor in that bike was replaced at 3000 miles due to failure. I was very panicked when I got to 3000...

Low battery warning and motor grinding

Mines the opposite, it’s fine if the motor is off, if it’s on it makes grinding/slipping kind of sound. It sounds like either a bad bearing or a worn belt. It only happens when under load, so if I put the bike on a rack and pedal with the wheels off the ground it makes the sound for a moment...

Low battery warning and motor grinding

Sigh, it’s not the motor problem…

Low battery warning and motor grinding

Is that the motor issue too?

Low battery warning and motor grinding

I’ve got a 2020 Turbo Vado 4 that is a replacement for a 2018 Turbo Vado 3 that developed a cracked frame just shy of 3000 miles. It was in the shop 6 weeks ago to get new brakes, new chainring, and firmware update. It’s been running great and I’m at 2970 miles. Today on my ride to work I...

    Best tire for the wet

I’m glad to find this thread. I upgraded my 2018 Vado 3.0 to the Marathon Plus after struggling through way to many flats. They always seemed less grippy but I thought it was my imagination. After my 2018 Vado 3.0 died of a cracked frame, my LBS moved the Marathon Pluses to the replacement 2020...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Got it back yesterday and made my first commute to work today - 11 miles each way and it was 16°F this morning. I have to say, the 2020 Vado 4.0 is way nicer than the 2018 Vado 3.0. I can feel the torque difference, the new 4.0 takes a little longer to get up to full speed, but it cruises so...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Sigh, picked up my new Vado 4.0 today and didn’t try it out at the store, got home to find that the motor kicks out at 16mph! Brought it back, but too late in the day to deal with it. Hopefully tomorrow …

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

LBS went to bat for me, I’m getting a new 2020 Vado 4.0. Should have it by this weekend.

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

I’ve got a 2018 Vado 3.0 that developed a wobble in the crank. I dropped it off at the LBS last night and it’s a cracked motor casing. Sucks to have to deal with this, but it least it sounds like everyone has gotten a good resolution to the problem.

Mission Control App - Turbo Vado Solution Now Available

Anyone in the US been able to get this done? According to my LBS, Specialized says this is a UK thing.

I’m at 1829 miles on my Turbo Vado 3.0. That’s over 7 months of ownership.

    Do you break spokes?

I’m around 1600 miles and broke my first rear spoke. I’m in Boston and the roads have been beat to hell and tons of salt, so maybe it’s just that. I love riding my Turbo Vado 3.0, but it’s not the hardiest bike I’ve owned.

    Low temperature affecting battery

I’ve definitely noticed a hit. After a few weeks of 10-20° f riding it hit 60° f in New England and I used a full bar less on my 11 mile commute in both directions. That’s with the battery being stored and charged indoors. I never thought to use a sleeve to insulate it, that’s an interesting idea.

    Turbo Vado 3.0 rack

Dang, they won’t ship to the US! But it gives me the part # at least.

    Turbo Vado 3.0 rack

The light integrated into the rack snapped off my Turbo Vado 3.0. It looks like the light is replaceable separate from the rack. Any idea how to find one of these?

How fast is my Vado 3.0 suppose to go?

I’m still on the 40t, how is the feel different? Is it just more power/effort?

How fast is my Vado 3.0 suppose to go?

I bought my Vado 3.0 at Landry’s in Massachusetts. The display was set for km but it always hit 28 mph. I was able to change the setting for km/mph myself. I agree with the above comments that the bike is not really optimized for 28 mph, and I wore out the chain and sprocket at 1100 miles.
