    The transition

We planted a few hundred trees 25 years ago, and they've had grandkids now. BUT we recently mulched a few tonnes of their branches , using a diesel powered mulcher. About 4 hours of belching smoke - I feel guilty, but it's part of our fire risk reduction at home. At least I used my electric...

    Giant talon E intermittent power

I've killed 3 sensors on my giant (2018) , it's usually the wires getting tweaked eg by sticks catching them, and they then give intermittent faults depending on rear suspension movement. Each time the dealer was able to plug my bike in and get a sensor error, but it's a relatively cheap part...

    Looking for suspension advice.

There ARE electric street legal dirt bikes, at least over here innOZ - but Sit down before looking at the price!

    Looking for suspension advice.

You have the basic concept correct - set sag around 25-40% with you onboard , then get the rebound dampening as quick as you feel comfortable with. On a bike that's going to be ridden aggressively, we have a trick for this - roll along standing in a neutral position, pump into the bike as hard...

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

Jeremy, your knees are going to love the SL. I'd suggest running the x/y power settings with Y higher than you expect to need. For example, I run 75/100 most of the time to protect my knees - if I need to pedal harder, I want the bike to match me. Stephan mentioned the yamahia / giant sensors...

For Specialized SL owners. Have you bought the bottle battery and is it helpful to you?

Mine came with a range extender, I've only used it twice! I've considered removing the main battery and just using the range extender - just to have a slightly lighter bike. But I'm too lazy

    Passed on a Dragster!

There is no such thing as a good crash

    Passed on a Dragster!

I wish! She's heavy, and long, even a bit primitive, yet somehow threads through the hills in a way she doesn't deserve to. It probably helps that the previous owner sank the equivalent $ of a specialized ebike into her suspension / titanium headers etc.

    Passed on a Dragster!

And then you change up a gear, but more importantly -it's a joy to ride on a tight country road

    intersting way of charging

Our outlets are 3 prong, some low power appliances only use 2 prongs so you can hold the beer in one hand and say " she'll be right, mate"

    Passed on a Dragster!

The cx motor was incredibly versatile - back in the 80's we rode a cx 650 two up in a blue light rally . It was a dirt bike ride that attracted about 1000 trail bikes. We'd come across greasy rutted out hills covered in stranded dirt bikes spinning wheels ....plod up next to them on the mighty...

    Passed on a Dragster!

I recently passed on a nice black moto guzzi griso, it'd been sorted out by the Australian guru ,and the price seemed fair, but there was another one for sale elsewhere . Both the guzzi guru AND his business partner told me to buy the other bike!!! This is what I ended up with.

PROOF You Don't Need a [tent] Footprint!

Child 1 was borrowing a tent on the weekend a d it started the usual discussions - why so many / how long do they last etc. It was enough for me to reflect on just how good an investment a tent is! My wife recently retired her original light weight mac pac - 35 years old! The titanium poles...

    What's an "SUV" ebike?

So there is definitely a difference between US SUV and the rest of the world! As an example, a jeep compass would just scrape in as a softroader / suv but the cherokee is considered a luxury 4x4 ( admittedly they all get serious $ thrown at them before getting dirty) I understand the...

    What's an "SUV" ebike?

Reading some of these responses, I wonder if the US has a different understanding to the rest of the world re the automotive suv ? We refer to them as soft roaders, as opposed to off roaders. Pretty much anything from subaru would be an example. Most have insufficient ground clearance or...

Ah, so THAT'S what's holding me back!

Nah, it's geography - I'm still looking for that 60 km downhill track

    Li-Ion observation

Which DOES NOT help when the car is parked up the top of heart attack hill because you've been shuttling the kids all day! The giant drops back to low output, and a few minutes later stops.

    Li-Ion observation

I managed to get a giant battery to switch itself down due to heat on a measely 40 c day (104 in ancient speak) . Admittedly I was repeatedly climbing 350 m over 3.5 km at pull power....

Recommended air pump to carry on bike

With hot showers, a flushing toilet AND someone else cooking dinner I thought the place was pure luxury! Admittedly we'd just come from a week camped on the coast in the francois peron, and we were heading into the east pilbara . We'd spend one right restocking in carnarvon - NEVER again...
