First Battery Use: Drain It Entirely?

I tend to do much of what has been said in previous posts, i.e., rarely let the battery get below 20%, alternate charging between 80-100%, never fully charging and then let the battery sit for days/weeks at full charge. On the latter, if I'm on a cycle where I charged to 100% and for some...

    Recommendations Hitch Bike Rack

That alternating rear arm position may work but it seems like the rear of the bike could possibly pop up and out. I'd probably also further secure the bike with a ratchet strap between the rear bike rack and the bottom track.

Haibike Urban Plus 2017 - The most exciting Urban E-bike!

Captain, try Jay at Lonestar. He supposedly bought the final inventory from Haibike. (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

Great looking bike Dan, congrats. BTW, are there specific trails you ride in St. Pete? (I'm just north of Tampa)

Haibike Urban Plus 2017 - The most exciting Urban E-bike!

Sorry for the confusion on my last post. I thought you had decided on the UP, but then your last post made it sound like you were still actively interested in the Trekking S 5.0 (maybe your strategy is to purchase multiple bikes and decide which one to keep later). In any event, from your post...

Haibike Urban Plus 2017 - The most exciting Urban E-bike!

Mark, I agree. BTW, I spent 25 years in tech (software) myself before retiring about 10 years ago so I'm sure we both did extensive due diligence on an ebike selection (it's an engineering curse that we will live out our lives making every decision via code or spreadsheet!). I've had my bike...

Haibike Urban Plus 2017 - The most exciting Urban E-bike!

You're right, except that you could have purchased a closeout 2017 Sduro for $1800...at $1800 what do you think will retain more of its value, the Sduro or the Urban Plus? You keep comparing the original RRP of Xduro/Sduro models to the discounted price of the UP - that argument makes no...

Haibike Urban Plus 2017 - The most exciting Urban E-bike!

Marky, not wanting to get into an argument with you, but the info that I received was that Tranzx itself was discontinuing the motor. I even sought clarification from the source that gave me the info because I also initially thought he was referring to just Haibike and he was not. I tried to...

Haibike Urban Plus 2017 - The most exciting Urban E-bike!

Well, I've raised some concerns about the Tranzx motor in earlier posts. And I certainly wish everyone who has purchased the bike the best of luck. There is no doubt it is a great looking bike, in either color. And overall nice components too. I think most people realize that Taiwanese...

    Advice on 2017 HardNine 6.0

Your tip is incorrect. The 2017 Trekking 4.0 and 5.0 are both 500w packs. I think all 2017 Haibike models using the performance line (speed or CX) use the 500w packs. Some of the Active line motors may still be using the 400w packs.

    Advice on 2017 HardNine 6.0

Dan, not sure if FS is a requirement. But I paid less than that for an Xduro Trekking which has the 27.5 Super Moto X tires which i think are great for both paved and light offroad. I thought the Sduro HardSeven 6.0 was also a great buy at less than $2K.

    What a arrogant jerk

I'm not sure how he could be any clearer that these are his views and his "observations". I guess we're all just financially bankrupt, overweight, out of DUI rehab ebikers. Seems to be me that there would be few, if any, of that demographic, buying ebikes. I think at times he was just...

    What a arrogant jerk

...."I'm amazed at how many e-bikes there are on the road. My friend, Craig Offman, has done some research on the rise of e-bikes and has learned that e-bikes are most popular with people in the 50-64 age bracket. This corresponds with my observations. Many of the riders look like they belong to...

Import hub motor hard failure - self healing???

Yes, it appears most people on here as well as battery manufacturers promote the idea of maintaining a charge between 20%-80% to maximize battery life. But drifting outside that range on occasion I'm sure would have a minimal effect on battery life. And at least in the case of Bosch, their...

Import hub motor hard failure - self healing???

Indianjo, why not try Nelson37's initial suggestion to just fully charge the pack (plus a few hours) to see if it was an issue with unbalanced cells? Seems like a dead easy thing to try. If it doesn't help, at least you ruled out another potential cause.

    Looking for Wisconsin commuter

Also, you may want to spend time reading thru the various Juiced threads on the CCS. At the very least, it may be months before you can get one plus many on here have had issues with timely support when problems have popped up. Most people agree that the CCS is a very good value if you can...

    Looking for Wisconsin commuter

Hi Derek, you might want to first see if you can narrow down your preference for either a hub drive or mid drive. I think they are all hubs above except for the Delta X. I looked at a few of these bikes myself - I think all are solid choices. I really like the Ohm Urban (at the 2017 closeout...
