    RadCity vs Haibike Urban Plus?

Interestingly enough I was helping a friend by and ebonite so I tried out both the Haibike Urban Plus and the Stromer St1 at amego cycles last week. Both are awesome bikes. My impression of the Stromer is that it feels great to ride but perhaps less “bike like” than the urban plus due to the...

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

I think the big bens are a great choice. Still really loving them this week. Would like to hear your feedback on the big bens when you get them. Ice tires sound pretty cool, I like the idea that the 584 rims can give you a whole different class of tires. For the most part they salt the roads...

Mid drives vs Hub drives ???

People keep talking about how much maintenance mid drives have on broken chains and sprockets etc. Actually the reason why I purchased a mid drive over the hub drive is that the rear wheel is the same as a non-motorized bike and can be easily removed and worked on either at home, at a local bike...

Exploring Bicycle Wheel Sizes and Tires

I will relay my brief experience with a couple of e-bike tires to give the newbie perspective. My bike came with 42-622 Smart Sam tires and my impressions was that they felt pretty unstable and my bike was basically torture at high speed. I added a body float suspension post and that was a huge...

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

Hey Johan, No issues with the fit of the supermotos on the chain stay. I have about a 6mm on either side. I bought the 27.5 rims off kijiji for 120 so I didn’t feel so bad about buying rims. Having said that I also fitted the 50-622 big bens on the 622 rims and they are awesome as well. I...

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

Thanks Alaskan for the kind comments, your bike looks awesome too, love the colour matched rack . Cube cross hybrid pro Allroad is the model. Yes I had to up the size of the fenders from the original cube 50mm to planet bike cassidia 65mm fenders so that I had full coverage. The tires are 60mm...

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

So here’s the finished product with fat 29r fenders added. I’m loving this for the streets of Toronto in spring (also known as construction season). The whole bike no longer rattles going over cracks, potholes and manhole covers.

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

Hey Will, Thanks so much for this info! Really appreciate the response and I’m happy to hear from a reputable dealer that my motor will not be damaged by this change. Also, coincidentally I purchased those super moto tires as a package from scooteretti online shop (I was the one asking about...

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

Awesome, I appreciate the feedback on this. I was originally looking at the Big Ben plus 622-50 and had them on order last week but somehow they lost the shipment. Tried to reorder but now they have no stock. Will definitely consider these formy original Alex Rims when they are back in stock.

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

Thanks for the sanity check...I agree, total BS but I wanted a second opinion. I thought of just changing the tires for 622-50 big bens and I might still do this eventually for my 622 rims for fun. As of now I’m completely sold on the 584-60 supermoto x’s. I had a ride this morning and I am so...

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

It’s not a speed peddelec, I’m in Canada so those are not technically not legal. I did not get a certificate of conformity for my bike or a range of tire size. I get that in a high speed application there may be more strict regulation.

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

Yup, I told him the diameters were essentially the same and he was going on about how bosch calibrates the motors precisely for each wheel type even if the diameters were the same. This is the part that really seems like total BS. In any case I just went for a ride on the super moto x.The ride...

    Changing tires/wheels on bosch ebike

So I am looking to change my tires/rims on my e-bike from 622-42 (smart sam) to 584-60 (super moto x). According to the Schwalbe site the circumference of the 622-42 tire is 2230 (710 dia) and for the 584-60 the circumference is 2240 (713 dia). Assuming the wheels fit my frame, how much of a...

    Shock replacement on e-bike

Yeah, thanks for the logical response. I can definitely get an air shock with rebound and damping adjustment and lock out with the same geometry and travel for $500 CDN.

    Shock replacement on e-bike

There was higher end model of cube with what seems like (at least on paper) a better fork. I think I probably should have spent the money up front, but here I am so I’m moving forward and trying to correct the situation. Manufacturers make different models for different applications. It seems...

    Shock replacement on e-bike

Looking for a little advice. The Suntour shocks that came with my ebike (cube cross pro) are garbage. I am an active rider and I find that they are wallowing from side to side, when I’m climbing or of the saddle. Preload adjustment seems to have little effect. Ride quality at high speed (45km)...

Why no discussions about clipless pedals on ebikes

I am now at the point where I rarely want to use the platform side of the pedal. Just purchased dual sided pd-t400s to eliminate the annoyance of having to think about what side I’m on. Still use the lower effort click’r multidirectional cleat. So easy to get out of even in emergency, for...

Cross current vs Stromer ST1 elite

I agree with you that the crosscurrent is a great bike and my reason for not getting it has less to do with the reviews or perception of reliability and more to do with my infatuation with the bike I ended up with. I really think that the crosscurrent platform Is more of an “open source” kind of...

Cross current vs Stromer ST1 elite

Umm, yes but it’s totally opposite of what I was thinking initially. So I tried a few bikes and in the end there was a great deal on a cube cross hybrid allroad with a bosch cx motor and I went for it. I learned that the legal limit for e-bikes is actually 32kms so as a law abiding citizen I...

Why no discussions about clipless pedals on ebikes

New to clipless pedals. Just installed Shimano “click’r” clipless pd-t421 which have the platform on one side as well. Very happy so far, these are a breeze to get into and out of. After taking the plunge with little or no practice I’m now a fan of the mtb style clipless. Shoes are giro rumble...
