Was browsing craigslist and noticed some smoking deals on some older Trek and Specialized bikes. These i think are more likely to have compatible bottom brackets for Bafang mid drive set ups, though you may have to settle for caliper style brakes. Could save many hundreds by buying used.

Having never fooled with one i have a question. Can i remove the two or three largest spockets, reinstall the cassette and use a spacer on the outboard side to make up the difference? This would help with chain alignment and i don't need or use those low gear cogs anyway.
