    7th gear

For those that use 7th gear most of the time it’s cheaper to just replace it when replacing the chain. This one fits perfectly on Amazon. SHIMANO CS-M771 Sprocket Wheel 11T (Built in Spacer Type) for BJ/BK-Group

    Brake Cables

Rear brake cable broke today on wife's bike while I was doing a stationary bike check. It broke somewhere near the middle. 5300 miles. I had changed her front one and my rear one already due to slight fraying. These cables should be replaced every two years for safety on these heavy bikes...

    Matching speed with riding partner.

Lots of people dislike many ebike brands because the speed is different in say PAS 1 between two bikes/riders. There are several factors in play but it’s mostly body weight. The Bolton upgrade can fix this. I program C14 in the controller to 2 so my PAS 1 has more power. I can now cruise easily...

    Chainring

I’m doing total drivetrain replacement on our two 2019 City’s and finding limited availability of the 46t 130BCD front chain rings. Some have pins and not sure if they will drag the guard. Some are for 9 speed chains and might be thinner. Has anyone just flipped these over before they were...

    RadCity motor bearings

My 2019 Radcity has about 6k miles and developed side play in rear wheel. I removed the bearings and found the brand Silnt. No that’s not a typo. Sizes are 6001RS and 6904RS. They have black rubber seals on both sides. I ordered SKF on Amazon which was a mistake. The packaging and bearings look...

    Safety notice

My 2019 Radcity front wheel was somewhat loose so I reclamped the skewer exactly proper and all the way to the stop, really tight as always. It came loose again and again. Can’t see anything wrong with anything, skewer still has the friction pads and all. Then I realized I can make the wheel...

    Radcity front hub

One of our 2019 Radcity has bad axle cone nuts on the front. I’ve looked online but haven’t found them yet. Need 16.9 or 17mm overall diameter, 9mm axle threaded opening, 9.5mm to 11.3mm length (or thickness if holding in hand). The front axle is actually too short on these bikes so the 11.3mm...

    Rad controller square wave

I posted before about a spare KT controller being square wave. I was simplifying it, it’s actually a trapezoid shaped wave. It’s very noisy on a Rad City. So now I’m looking at phase wires with an oscilloscope on a standard Rad controller and seeing near perfect square waves at all speeds. It’s...

    Controller problem

My 2019 Radcity controller started causing bad motor vibrations. I was 10 miles from home and had just ridden a normal ride on sidewalks and roads on a cool day in PAS 2 or 3 about 4 weeks ago. I have a motor extension cable cut open so signals can be checked. I just run it in Walk mode for now...

    Cruise control

Has anyone gotten their cruise control to work with the Bolton upgrade? I have C7=1 and tried both up and down arrows while going faster than 10 mph.

    Radcity broke for 4 weeks.

Controllers were scarce but finally received the Bolton upgrade yesterday and a Rad one today. I had a spare but it turned out to be sq wave which is really noisy. Rode my wife’s bike some to keep sane.

    Controller and motor test station.

We take our bikes on trips so a breakdown is unacceptable. I carry a motor/wheel that I repaired, controller/display, battery, spokes, shifter, seat post clamp etc. I just need a throttle to rig up a test station. Anyone done this? I need to make a wheel stand too.

    Bolton kit for Rad

The Bolton website shows 35nm for the motor torque. I don’t get it, the Radcity is supposed to have 40nm. I emailed them about it but have not heard back.

    35 amp controller

Does the larger amp controllers like the 35 amp show over 1000 watts during initial acceleration but roll off power as you get to 15mph and higher?

    Motor thud while slowing down

2019 RadCity with 2600 miles. Started noticing this awhile back on Wife’s bike but thought it was bumps reverberating through the wooden box mounted on the rear while riding. It’s not bumps. I have noticed both bikes have always made a slight thud when running the motor while leaning on the...

    Not doing this again

We drove the SUV up a one way single lane paved mountain road today to hike some. Didn’t think about riding there, might go up the mountain if I had a 6000 watt system. So at the top I decided to ride down the single lane paved road on the way out. I waited until several cars went down then...

    Radcity trick

If you are riding with someone that weighs less than you or you just want a little extra wattage here is what you can do. While you are pedaling note the wattage, give it a one second blast of throttle, don’t stop pedaling, note the wattage after it settles down. It will be a little more. It...

    Clanking from rear

Both of my Rad City did this clanking noise at certain pedaling speeds in gear 5 or 6. I got a new freewheel but it also had too much play. I was able to disassemble and remove a micro thin spacer to fully repair. This is not a bearing problem. Just a case of factory worker setting the necessary...

    Hi from Mt Pleasant SC!

We have two 2019 Rad City, standard frame, shock absorber seat posts. 3200 miles on one and 2700 on the other. I have repaired one motor, rebuilt both free wheels to set proper play which eliminates the harmonic rattling in gear 5 and 6 at certain pedaling speeds.
