Cannondale closes their US office and merges the sales into one office

Will the smaller frames have proportionally shorter reaches like Juliana's? It seemed to be a good niche market.

Cannondale closes their US office and merges the sales into one office

I like the toys on the first bike. I have made some bikes with toys but mostly kids' cargo bike cockpits. Having fun is fun for its own sake. For many a 250 W front hub's assistance is all they need to leave the car behind when going less than four miles round-trip around town to drop off some...

    Throttles and California

This is the one the nice mom wanted me to finish assembly for her fourth grader son. I looked it up, it is actually 5 Kw, not 3. Why am I not seeing a licence plate in the mfg.'s Lisbon Portugal image? Or turn signals, when they are being marketing in North America? They call them 'bikes' on the...

    Throttles and California

A nice mom called today. She asked me if I could attach a rear wheel to her ten-year-old's bike. Instead of saying, Sure. I dug just a little deeper. It is a 3,000 Watt eMoto. For a fourth grader! I can't even pronounce the name of the brand.

Cannondale closes their US office and merges the sales into one office

PON owns a bunch of brands that are not necessarily high end from when they purchased Dorel. GT was sold in Dick's Sproting goods, a big box 24-speed 'mountain bike' the Aggressor Pro sold for $299 a few years ago. Now they are trying to redeem that brand. The also own the brand name of Schwinn...

Cannondale closes their US office and merges the sales into one office

Mike's bikes is owned by PON and are all about selling the most expensive thing. Although most of their bikes are PON and they don't mention to a customer that they are really comparing bikes from the same company, they just brought in Aventon. They have put down throttle bikes for over...

Cannondale closes their US office and merges the sales into one office

Trek started charging their customers a tariff sir charge while filing a lawsuit to get back the tariff money from the Feds. They won, getting the money back, and now must pay back their customers who paid the fee. That suit is still pending. X-Labs has 170 US dealers currently and can afford to...

Cannondale closes their US office and merges the sales into one office

When Trek started they were making their own frames. Then it became more profitable to farm out production, but in doing so and becoming dependent they lost control. It is weird when a customer walks into a retail bike shop and sees four or five brands to shop between, plus accessories, that...

    "Mini Me?"

I had it below the minimum insertion line on the original factory post. The problem was because the line was off because of the position of the top tube on that particular frame. Marin admitted the oversight and gave me a new frame. I then used a much longer post.

The PON Holdings Group contracts out all of their frame production to factories in Asia making them vulnerable. The Chinese are well schooled in Marxist economics regarding ownership of the means of production and the leverage that gives.

    Throttles and California

As of now 12 parents in Orange County, Southern California, have been charged with Reckless Child Endangerment for allowing their kids to ride eMotos on the streets. I currently have two members blocked and it is wonderful. It is so easy. Just click on their name and hit ignore.

Cannondale closes their US office and merges the sales into one office

I just saw a video that was highly informative but packed with advertisements. China's $65 Bikes Just Destroyed Trek's $6 Billion Empire. The same is happening with the PON Group. These factories were making bikes to specifications for 30-years and learned all the techniques and built the...

    "Mini Me?"

Those are lightweight aluminum bikes from Marin. I also did a bunch of similar ones from Giant that are no longer made but demo bikes are still with retailers at steep discounts. Those are call Momentum Vida. They came in low-step and mid-step. Some are still out there for about $550.

    "Mini Me?"

I broke the frame! I learn best when I screw up. It was at the minimum insertion point mark on the post, but that was above the down tube. It suddenly got all spongy, starting to wobble, then cracked. Marin Bicycles has a huge warehouse in my town, Petaluma. It is filled with frames of all sizes...

I have converted several Marin Stinson 2 bikes with torque sensor mid-drives. The bike is a modern take on the classic beach cruiser. It is foot forward, comfortable, with a long wheelbase, and has a wide range of gears. Stinson is a popular beach north of the Golden Gate. This is a cruiser...

    The transition

In the last two years during of record setting European heatwaves 35,000 died prematurely. I wonder about next year. The earth's natural system for sequestering carbon underground, making life livable, has been short-circuited by digging it up and burning it. I cannot buy juice concentrate. I...

    The transition

That is true but the Arctic and Antarctic are being hugely impacted for example migratory populations including fish and birds. Many species are giving birth weeks ahead of when they normally would. In the last couple of decades caribou populations have dropped 65%. And it is very rare for...
