Sandy, I think you need to check your math here… If I’m not mistaken, we’re talking about 2 horsepower or so… Certainly, more power from a mid-drive means more stress on the drivetrain. But I don’t think we’re in the same ballpark here as auto or even motorcycle territory.

I ride with no hands very frequently. I’m not sure there’s any “purpose” other than relaxing the back and just chillin’. Of course, my bike has fat-bike geometry which makes it easy. @Marcela you’re right that old “10-speed” bike geometry was very different than today’s. I’m not sure how...

Hey, Chris, do all the interconnections come back automatically when you remove battery(s) and re-seat them, or do you have to do a rain dance to set everything up when you ride? Just curious. It all sounds like great fun.

Well, it’s also compounded by the fact that many of these ebike companies are teetering on the edge or already gone. I would argue that while I’m sure it’s partly planned obsolescence, it’s also because there is little/no standardization in the designs or protocols of the components.

Wow. Why would anyone be ashamed to own one of those? :) Looks like a really nice bike, Marcela. Giant is a winner, as I watch @RabH continue to put amazing mileage on his road bike. Do you know why Yamaha is stopping shipment? Your post was the first I’d read about that.
