    Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

    Really appreciate ALL the help, guys. I think I know enough now to come up with a plan tomorrow at the LBS.

    Thanks! Very helpful seeing the seat tube mount. Seems like everyone should carry an ass saver, just in case. ;^}

    Where we are in 2026

    Hmmm, sounds like you've done this before. I'll pass that on to Guido and Vinnie. They're very good at what they do and no doubt have their own bag of tricks. They'll keep the 1st visit to a warning if I insist, but they won't like it, and the Surronster strikes me as a guy who thinks he can...

    Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

    Looking over the bewildering array of Ortlieb panniers. Which ones do you use? Need only one and not the largest, as it won't be used for big shopping trips. (Still can't bring myself to leave the SL unattended.) Mainly just for extra or shed outerwear and maybe lunch. Price and size look good...

    Many thanks! That rack could easily be the solution. The seat post attachment looked questionable for the SL 1 in the product photos, but I know you're familiar with the SL 1 seat post, and you've used this rack on an SL 1, right?

    So the Surronster lives in San Diego, eh? I've been meaning to have my cousins Guido and Vinnie from New Jersey out for a visit. They specialize in knees. ;^}

    Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

    Thinking out loud department — feel free to ignore Last week, I finally decided to pull the trigger on removing my SL1 EQ's stock fenders and rack in order to fit a 40 mm Tracer TLR tubeless gravel tire on back. Normally don't need fenders around here, but now I'm having 2nd thoughts as...

    NYTimes https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/18/technology/google-gemini-ai.html?smid=nytcore-android-share Wonder if AI's taking suggestions on who to attack next through the prompts it gives us mere mortals? I have some candidates in mind. ;^}

    2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

    What a ride! I'd say you married the right woman. We once rode across the Southern Alps on the train from the east coast to Christchurch. Absolutely stunning. Hats off to the A20 engineers who found and built a bike route across those formidable mountains. Maybe the A20 follows a chain of big...

    Bike RADAR - for other bikes

    Thanks, guys, but now my head hurts. How are we to reconcile these very different experiences with the exact same Garmin radar? @6zfshdb , did yours accidentlly fall into a puddle at some point?

    Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

    Do you see a lot of great blue herons in Vancouver? They seem to get around. Not as common as great and snowy egrets here on the SW SoCal coast, but by no means rare. Saw many hundreds one fall around Lake Cuyamaca (el. 4,600 ft) and adjoining wetlands in the mountains east of here. Also saw...

    Turbo Vado SL 2 6.0 - turns itself on when off and unattended

    Could well be sampling bias, but seems like the known SL 2s around here are having a lot of electrical issues. Anyone have more reliable data on the subject?

    Back on the bike

    Glad you're finally getting settled in and back to biking. If it's not top secret, what took you to Poland? Exploring new places is one of my very favorite things to do, and no better way to do it than on a bike — or better yet, an ebike. Lots of fun ahead for you two, and the good bike...

    Where we are in 2026

    Yeah, that's certainly how many see ebiking now — including most of my older neighbors. Ebike fans they are not. But all isn't lost. I live in a place (SW SoCal) crawling with kids on ebikes of all kinds. Most are riding reasonably responsibly these days — at least when I see them on public...

    Bike RADAR - for other bikes

    Like the OP, I'm especially interested in picking up overtaking bicycles. Considering the Wahoo Trackr radar as I already have a Wahoo ACE head unit. But I've seen credible reports that the Trackr's not good at picking up overtaking bikes. Q1. Anybody have solid experience to the contrary...

    My legs looked like that for 6 months after getting my first pair of spiked MTB pedals. Still nip me now and then. But guessing your boo-boos are more from sticks and stones.
