SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

So many high-end bikes here — especially road and gravel — that no one would laugh. Wouldn't say I dream of them, either. I'm lucky enough to have the bike I want (Vado SL) at a fraction of the cost. But I like to admire these masterpieces when I can get a good look and would definitely love...

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

Dropped the bike off yesterday at my LBS (Cadence Cyclery, Encinitas) for some long-awaited mods. And as usual, stayed to look over all the bikes I'd have to win a lottery or rob a bank to afford. Lower-end version of the latest Specialized Tarmac racer. Lots of S-works Tarmacs show up at...

Came out of the local grocery to find this totally cool old truck parked next to me. Worlds apart. SoCal car culture is alive and well in Carlsbad. I try to burn as little gas as possible these days, but once a car nut...

    Just for fun...

My fellow Americans watch a lot of really stupid stuff — shows that make the Housewives of New Jersey look restrained. I see now that we're not alone.

    Just for fun...

I'd just like to thank @ChezCheese:) for starting this thread. One of my very favorites on EBR — and the competition for a spot on that podium is very stiff. Keep the laughs comin', folks!

Well, sounds like the blonde hair might be here to stay, but a good McNulty interview nonetheless...

2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Oh, so you do notice headwinds! A typical RabH post might begin, "I debated riding south to Framingham but decided on the 50 miles north to Rammingshire despite the 35 mph headwind." Hope you get your ebike soon.

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Gotta love the unpredictability of this sport! On YouTube at least, much of the pre-championship hype understandably centered on WVA and MVDP — also with talk of Del Toro in rainbows. Would've been happy to see any of them win, especially WVA. Then WVA had a bad-legs day, MVDP wasn't feeling...

    Just for fun...

So God looks down one day and sees Adam moping around the garden. "What's got you down, Adam?" "I'm lonely. I need a mate." "OK, I can make you a gorgeous woman who will hang on your every word, obey your every command, and satisfy your every desire." "Gee, that sounds great, God! But I know how...

Is wearing a helmet on a bicycle mandatory in Australia, New Zealand, elsewhere?

To my surprise, current California law requires only 2 groups to wear bicycle helmets: (1) Riders under age 18, and (2) riders of Class 3 ebikes. Group (1) also includes any passengers, maybe (2) as well. Approved helmets are required, and they must be on the head and buckled. Many kids here...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

On Monday, it will be a real bike shop. And a few days later, I'll have a real fenderless bike and an all-too-real bill to prove it. Cool though that my phone could give me a preview without adding an app. I'll post the preview and finished bike together to show how close AI got. To be clear...

    Rumors, from the inside

Big bike manufacturers have big PR budgets. Maybe now they'll put some PR into educating the public, the media, and especially the regulators on the key distinctions between legal ebikes and other 2-wheeled EVs.

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Today's 15 mi coast ride gave me my first good post-Marie look at South Carlsbad State Beach and North Ponto and Terramar beaches at a moderate low tide of +2.1 ft. Looking first south, then north, the beaches look maybe a little narrower than usual for this tide, but no evidence of drastic...

Vollering took the womens' elite road world championship in a final one-on-one sprint against Niewiadoma. Highlights are worth watching.

Using reference-image transformation to explore e-bike styling, color schemes, and accessory setups

Using reference-image transformation to explore e-bike styling, color schemes, and accessory setups

OK, one more phone AI experiment. Have been wanting to remove my Vado SL's fenders and rear rack for a sportier look after watching too much pro racing, and now I have to in order to get a bigger (40 mm) gravel tire on back. Long story, but I really need more traction in back and really don't...

Using reference-image transformation to explore e-bike styling, color schemes, and accessory setups

I think there's a place for this kind of preview — especially when you're as color-sensitive as I am. Just ordered this orange Ortlieb pannier for my bike... But thought long and hard about the blue one... Now I'm kinda wishing I'd gone with blue... All I did was load the original bike...
