    The transition

AI is a bubble waiting to burst for sure. OpenAI locked up 40% of the RAM production for the year and have now backed out of that.

What's holding back the e-bike boom? Research, safety, and bias (article)

Those are minor technical issues. Most are debatable on whether or not they are actually issues. They aren't preventing people from buying an ebike to commute to work. Most people in the US just don't want to ride an ebike to work. They haven't even thought about whether they can ride 20 mph...

    The transition

You see quite a few Rivians on the road here in California. I can't stand the look of the front of the truck.

    Remember Highway 61 Revisited?

My gas heater heats the house just fine and does it a lot cheaper than the space heater. My wife isn't one to consider that logic though. I have a home standby generator, which runs on natural gas. The autoswitch takes about 45 seconds to fire up the generator and switch over. I have UPSes on...

    The transition

95% of the population in the US see bicycles as recreation and not transportation even if most people own a bicycle. It's a cultural thing and it's been that way for the last 100 years. I remember during the 70's gas crisis, my dad trying different ways to get to work. He tried cycling, but it...

    Remember Highway 61 Revisited?

Unless I can get my wife to stop using the electric space heater, running the coffee maker for a few minutes isn't going to make much difference in my electric bill.

    Remember Highway 61 Revisited?

My Keurig K-2550 commercial coffee maker is plumbed into filtered water and brews 16 Oz right into my travel mug. My wife likes a darker roast and a ceramic cup. She makes several smaller cups throughout the day.

How an Electric Motorbike Made LA Feel Smaller, Easier and More Fun

I have a motorcycle license as well. I have never ridden a full sized motorcycle in my life. 45 years ago, my dad had a 49cc "motorcycle" called a Yamahopper with a 2 speed automatic transmission and California let you take the test on those back then. It was a piece of cake riding that little...

    Sizing Question

It is pretty easy to install a longer seatpost, stem, and/or riser handlebars if the reach is close.

How an Electric Motorbike Made LA Feel Smaller, Easier and More Fun

I suspect that the biggest reason motorcyclists prefer internal combustion is so that they can put straight pipes on their bike and put out enough decibels to let every one of their neighbors know that they are leaving for work at 6 AM.

Fork upgrade for Townie 7D with 1000 watt magic pie on it ..

It seems like it would be better to just switch to a rear hub motor instead if you are worried about the integrity of the fork. Magic Pie sells a kit for the rear wheel, but of course, there are many other options as well. Although, I don't think your current fork is a problem with two torque...

Original Aventure won't power on unless plugged in

If it is an old battery, over time they will develop internal resistance that will cause voltage sag under load.

concerns with ebikes laws and ways to improve them

I don't know if MUPs are always where the problem is happening though. Ride-outs happen on the streets. These are obnoxious group rides where they weave through traffic. The incident in Orange County where a kid on a Sur-ron killed an 81 year old man happened on the streets while the kid was...

concerns with ebikes laws and ways to improve them

The current laws are adequate to solve the problem of kids riding illegal emotos in a dangerous manner. The problem is with enforcement. Or maybe you just accept a certain rate of accidents and fatalities for ebikes as a trade off for the convenience of having them, like we have for cars...

    Bourbon

It's been years since I tried Crown Royal. But looking it up, it's mostly corn in the mash bill. So similar to bourbon.

    Bourbon

$200 is a little more than I would be willing to spend for a bottle of bourbon. I didn't think the single barrel was an improvement over the regular Knob Creek 9. I can get a 12 year Knob Creek for about what the single barrel cost ($63) and might try that next. The Knob Creek 9 goes for $39 at...

    Bourbon

You can make Canadian whisky in your garage, but bourbon comes from Kentucky. I only drink about 4 oz per week (two drinks), so I don't mind spending a little more for a good tasting bourbon.
