    Cracked Allant rear rim

Eeh, just talked to the bike shop & components are on the 2 year warranty plan. Looks like I'm on my own. Hate this, but I think it may be what will push me to just buy a truing stand and replace the rim. After I dig into the bearings to see if it's even worth rescuing this setup.

    Cracked Allant rear rim

So I took my Allant 7 down for maintenance today - new chainring, chain and cassette. Cleaned up the rear wheel to put the new cassette on and found a cracked rim. While it gets good care and feeding, I don't spit shine it unless I'm replacing or inspecting something & this almost got out of...

You have to watch the movie Mallrats to get mine :) Been using it since the early PC gaming days when I discovered I needed a gamer tag

My local park prohibits them too For good reasons though :) I still see electric motorcycles out here almost every day

Specialized drop prices in North America for Levo range. Permanent drop due to competitive market.

Trek did this a couple years back with the Allant line. Now, it's discontinued. Same playbook?

    New from Colorado

You get used to it. When I moved here 15 years ago, I couldn't make it an hour. A year or 2 later, I was climbing from the base areas of ski hills to the top to ride the downhill trails back down on a squishy MTB (no motor). Welcome!

    Hello from Colorado!

I miss that bike park (by the jail) more than anything else about living in Boulder. What a sweet resource! I used to ride it several times a week. Welcome!

    Seat recommendations for tailbone soreness?

Go see a bike fitter. They have machines now that measure the pressure on your sit bones & other sensitive areas & can remove the guesswork to get you on the right saddle. I spend a good bit of time on trainers at the gym in the winter & the saddles are awful. I find that spinning a minute or...

Thanks! Yeah, it was pretty cool. We actually get a lot of days like that. The majority of sunsets here tend to be on the spectacular side - storm or no storm. Sunrises too. I work in a taller building and watch the sun come up most days while drinking coffee on the 12th floor. On a...

    The transition

24 years on my Tacoma & plan to keep it forever. I occasionally catch some flak for driving a truck (albeit one of the smallest ones on the road). Haters gonna hate. I do not care. I do truck things. I still burn far less fuel than most drivers and ride a bike to work & run errands when I...

Yeah, I hear that. That Camry was like a go-kart. My main ride is a 4x4 Tacoma, mildly lifted, with fairly beefy ATs. It will go anywhere and I can see everything.

    The transition

I do love living close to work. I might put 2500 miles on my truck in a whole year. Put almost that on the Allant :) I'll rent if I plan to pile on miles. Rented a Camry hybrid last year & got combined ~55 MPG on a mostly highway trip and it's a reasonably big car (although very low to the...

    The transition

I don't drive enough to care what gas costs, but I did notice that we're up to around $5/gallon in my area of the CO Front Range while sitting at a red light today. Diesel was about $6.50  And from what I hear from investing channels, we haven't really felt the pain of the Hormuz saga yet

Anyone converted their Turbo Vado to tubeless tires?

No, they make them from a gallon or less all the way up to something you'd need a truck for. Just mentioned that as it might offer more versatility over something made specifically for a bike tire. They both do the same thing.

New Federal E-Bike Legislation March 2026

Yay, more legislation. This should make micromobility more accessible in an era of unaffordable everything </sarcasm>. Laws are already in place to prevent a$$hat behavior pretty much everywhere. Maybe enforce those. I can go out and buy a car that will do over 200 MPH, 0-60 in <2 seconds...

Anyone converted their Turbo Vado to tubeless tires?

Technique and patience go a long way as well. Not to say these aren't being employed, but not everyone wants to take the time to figure it out. And, as highlighted above, not everyone has the tools. That's why bike shops stay in business. I've never had a tire / wheel combo I could not...
