    Consumer Reports: Ebike Fires

Containment can be an advantage if used with a way to move the container away from combustibles. Right now, I'm using ammo cans on a cart that can be pulled or pushed out a door. They are bulky though, and I like the idea of a lightweight bag as a replacement.

    The transition

I'm no expert either, but this is my take on the issue: Iran is an oil producing country. Yes, they benefit by forcing up the price on a short term basis. This could hurt them in the long term however if oil prices remain high for an extended period of time. This simply forces the rest of the...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

They are vandals who don't care about laws, let alone a sign.

Do cell phone holders damage phones?

I've used various smartphones mounted on my bars over the years, going back to the old iPhone 5. Vibration killed one and none were bright enough to read effectively in bright sun. I eventually switched to dedicated bike GPS units, which are easier to both see and control. I prefer to keep the...

Looks interesting. Certainly better than nothing. Too bad they don't make a size for rear rack batteries.

    "Taps"

It's possible the cell voltage has dropped below what the charger needs to "recognize" the battery. Using a charger with a force start option is one possibility. Another is to wire a charged battery of the same voltage in parallel with the dead one. This can raise the cell voltage to the point...

    Battery Display Settings

Programming a bar gauge to represent remaining useable wattage instead of current voltage seems reasonably simple to do, yet few if any manufacturers of low & mid level bikes do it. I find the bar gauges on my mid priced bikes to be all but useless. By the time the first of the 5 bars...

    User Selectable E-Bike Class.

Could be an issue since new Federal E-bike legislation prohibits bikes that can easily be modified to change class. See @J.R. 's post: https://forums.electricbikereview.com/threads/new-federal-e-bike-legislation-march-2026.59092/

Anybody else oil a chainsaw manually?

I also had an old Craftsman saw with a thumb oil pump. My neighbor had the same saw but paid extra for the auto oil feature. He had nothing but trouble with it. He eventually sold the saw and bought the cheaper model I had. I've owned 8 different saws over the years, both gas & electric. All...

    The transition

The world would certainly be a better place if we were all able to do this. Unfortunately, the majority of the population, due to climate, topography and distance, isn't able to use bicycling as a reliable and regular form of transportation. Still, if everyone who was able to bike did so, it...

    Heavy Rider, need suggestions

I'm also a heavy rider and carry a lot of gear. After fighting broken spokes for years on several previous bikes, I switched to mag wheels. It limits your choice of bikes though, unless you can find one to retrofit'. My current Pedego Platinum Interceptor is rated to 450#.

I hope you know I was just kidding. I pass my share of "noisy" bikers and I don't care for it either.

I think those that use ear buds or headsets are being selfish. Music is meant to be shared and enjoyed by everyone. We need more bikes like these:

Raising Handlebars to Ease Hand Pressure

Although I can still throw a leg over the bar, I'm not sure just how many more years I'll be able to do so. I went the step thru route a few years back to avoid any future problems. These bikes aren't getting any cheaper and I'd hate to have to replace one for that reason. Yeah, you give up...

Raising Handlebars to Ease Hand Pressure

I'm not a pill pusher either, but I do sometimes take a proactive dose of Ibuprofen before a long ride. It definitely makes a difference.

Raising Handlebars to Ease Hand Pressure

I also have arthritis in my hands and sympathize with what your wife is experiencing. I tried swapping parts and made adjustments over several seasons and found these to be the most helpful. I added a stem riser with a suspension stem and replaced the straight bars with Jones H bars that have a...

Back on topic, the Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer issued the following statement in a press release regarding a recent e-bike accident: "Parents who buy their child an E-motorcycle and let them ride them illegally or help modify e-Bikes to transform them into E-motorcycles are...

Wire Organizing- What Do You Use?

For fine wire, using heat shrink on each solder joint helps reduce the stress. The biggest risk is a "cold" solder joint that looks sound but fails easily. Mechanical stress relief is more important for larger gauge wire.
