If the scale make and model is correct (from a BikeRadar article in 2025 TdF) it is a Kern CH 15/20 According to the specs it has a .5% tolerance taken from it's max rated weight measurement of 15kg. In other words a tolerance of 75g. Since it only resolves to 20g, it's linearity is +-40g...

Its quite possible to believe the penalty is too harsh for a 21 stage race and still understand how and why the penalty was applied. The UCI puts themselves in these positions with poorly thought out rules and penalties. Then they fuel controversy and speculation by not releasing information...

Not at all. It's a little harder if you're a Luddite without a smartphone. Assuming you've already copied the photo from your camera to your desktop/laptop, just open the image directly in the Chrome browser. Then just right click to get the option to search with Lens. Looks like you have a...

I agree, I don't mind the grey and orange. Especially when it's Ganna out in front making the peloton chase. I think the INEOS bikes say Pinarello on the right side and Dogma on the left side.

It's because they have red, yellow and pink bands on their sleeves to celebrate Jonas' accomplishment. Only works against black or white. Edit: Also it lets them sell a special limited edition jersey

Lorena Wiebes disqualified from the women's Giro after winning the flat stage 1 for her bike weighing 20g below the 6.8kg limit. Does the UCI not weigh bikes before the stage? Do they really only check after the stage, ensuring maximum controversy? I'm somewhat surprised that the only...

How an Electric Motorbike Made LA Feel Smaller, Easier and More Fun

Yamaha has patented a solution for that: https://www.theautopian.com/yamaha-patented-a-piston-engine-for-electric-motorcycles-that-rumbles-and-vibrates-but-actually-reduces-horsepower/

This happened in the windup to the final sprint. Definitely not a course issue.

Most of the teams wanted to preserve their own sprint trains and wanted to force other teams to burn their sprint trains in the chase. Great strategy, as long as the peloton actually catches the breakaway. They really underestimated the breakaway. Once they got onto the city circuit the...

?? Somebody has to lead the peloton. Several teams were taking turns at the front to keep the break within reach but other teams didn't commit. It was basically NSN, Rose Rockets and Lidl Trek with some QuickStep. And Lidl Trek is a split GC/sprint squad so they resorted to using their GC...

Looks like the peloton underestimated the break. I really didn't think it would come down this close to the end. Lidl Trek has already used Derek Gee and their lead out man to try to pull the break back

    shock absorbing seat posts

I think it is a given that protecting mechanical moving parts from dust or water will prolong the lifespan and decrease odds of experiencing a problem. That said, I have had the Kinekt seatpost with no protection for 6 years of all weather riding in Seattle and it still performs the same as day...

Btw, since MVDP and Pogi were brought up. This popped up in my feed. Remember a few years ago when Pogacar was in a two up sprint with MVDP and ended up 4th? 😆

I'm not sure that a 3 time grand tour winner and accomplished time trialist deserves hoopla for outperforming a climber who has never won anything at the pro or world tour level and who has never shown much TT prowess. Sure, Jonas could have done a bit better but a flat mostly straight TT...

Lady cyclist killed in Davis involving juvenile on ebike...on the bike path.

I mean ... the dues have gone up significantly. In my region, prices pretty much tracked with the national average in 1985. Now the median income is about $120k and the median house price is $865k. LandoftheGiants quip about living in a park isn't so far off. At 1985's house price to annual...

Everyday is Bike to Work Day?

I always mess these things up - I celebrated Drive to Work Day on Wednesday instead. Only day this month I drove to work.... :) Actually in Seattle, it's Bike to Everywhere day so we don't discriminate. Not sure why it was Wednesday instead of Friday here.

Nico Denz started today? Very surprised he passed concussion protocol. Was tired yesterday at work after staying up until 2am watching the incredible stage 5 :) Signing off this thread for the next 14 hrs, so I can see the stage 7 final climb with fresh eyes tonight
