    Pace 500 Hill Climb abilities

I did a very steep gravel road climb on my Pace 500 with average grade at 9% for 4 miles and 1600 feet in climb into the Cherokee National Forest with no overheating. I weigh 240 lbs so the motor is pretty stout.

How to Replace a Broken Spoke

Replacing a Broken Spoke I found a second broken spoke on the rear non-drive side (brake disc side) of my Pace 500. The first broken spoke came about 6 months and 400 miles ago. I was able to replace this one without removing the wheel, tire tube or the brake disc which I did last time. Here's...

Try a quick push of the battery button. If that doesn't work then try a longer, 2 second press.

Known Issues & Problems with Aventon Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

The "surge" isn't a bug, it's just the PAS coming on when you pedal in a tight turn. Applying a little brake lever movement will cut out PAS and prevent the unwanted power surge.

Known Issues & Problems with Aventon Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

I had the same problem in tight turns. I now slightly drag the rear brake when making tight turns and the motor will not come on during the turn.

    hub motor issues

The brakes are hydraulic so they will not shut off but it's a good idea to release the brakes periodically to allow the pads and caliper to cool. For a long downhill I will add extra brake to slow more than normally so I can release the brakes completely while the bike accelerates downhill.

    Ride Quality of Pace 500

You will get used to the Pas 1 acceleration. Initially it's startling but you'll come to enjoy it. Always apply the brakes when coming to a stop, even when coasting to a stop squeeze that brake lever.

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

That is the rear brake caliper spacer. Since they installed the rear wheel at the factory they removed it from the caliper and were nice enough to throw it in the box. If you remove the rear wheel for shipping you should insert that spacer in the brake caliper. Same goes for the front caliper.

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

That new HAL eBoost Team looks great. I was just a few weeks too early with my order. The Team has a 1x12 drivetrain vs the Pro with 1x11 and the Team has a lockout front fork and 3" wide tires vs 2.8". I like the black-on-black color scheme more than the black/blue too. My Pro has 140mm of...

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

I put my old oil in it and my wife uses it as a fire starter. The blue can is diesel. Boring but true.

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

The Shimano E8000 manual mentions a main battery powered light which can be turned on and off in the computer menu. It even warns the light is required by law in Germany but is not installed. Has anyone installed a light on their HAL eBoost? Did you route the wire through the frame? If so, how...

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

Jack, I'll have to give your cable technique a try. I flew with Southwest for 10 years until I lost my medical for vertigo (that picture is old ;) ). My wife Brenda is still a pilot for SWA.

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

I pulled pretty hard on the cable before dropping the motor so maybe it is the size of the E8000 motor. If I drop the motor again I'm going to spray all the cables above the motor with silicone to help with cable slide.

The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

Spoiler: I love this bike. The infamous Motobecane HAL E-MTB. I bought one…

I just took delivery of a Motobecane HAL eBoost Pro 2020. I had to pivot the motor down to adjust the dropper seat cable but other than that assembly went very smoothly. I used the RockShox Trailhead app for suspension tuning. All I've done so far is a 23 mile road ride shakedown run. The bike...

My 500 rear wheel went out of true when I retensioned the spokes. Adjusted the tension at the problem area but didn't go above 28 on any of the spokes.

    Pace 500 1st review

"Nearly bought one for the wife. Her hub drive went out so I've gotten a little gun-shy. " Was it a Pace rear hub that went out or another brand? I haven't heard of a single Pace hub failure.

    Pace500 spokes breaking

Park Tool TM-1 Spoke Tension Meter I bought this copy and it works great at less than half the price: VGEBY1 Spoke Tension Meter I use a tension meter reading of 28 for rear drive side and 24-25 non-drive side and 24-25 for the front wheel. The rims are speced at 110-120kgf. The spokes are 13...

I agree with Mike, he's just giving us some good info refuting the guy from the competing bike company. Why is he posting here anyway?
