Update April 2021. I have not had any more spoke breakages since the original post. I can confirm that new Pace 500s come with thicker 12 gauge spokes in the rear. I also believe Aventon finally changed spoke suppliers and the new spokes are much less prone to breaking.

I use leg power and an occasional blip of the throttle for less than PAS 1 speeds.

I saw a post about this a while back from an Aventon dealer but he said the firmware update was going to be for new bikes only, no re-flash update for us.

E-25 probably has to do with the sensing switch in the brake lever so the controller knows to turn the motor off when the brakes are applied. Check the connections at the brakes and the controller and adjust the brake lever out a little and see if that fixes it.

If you have some calipers the 13 gauge are 2.3mm and the 12 gauge are 2.6mm.

TxAventon, that nipple will rattle around until you remove the tube valve and let the nipple fall out of the valve hole.

I believe the spoke sizes used on the Pace and Level are 12 and 13 gauge (13 is thinner). My Pace 500 was purchased in September of 2019 and came with all 13 gauge spokes front and rear. I believe the new 500s come with 12 gauge in the rear like the Level. Here are black 12 gauge 198mm spokes...

Typically the LBS has to order a blank black spoke, then cut and thread it to size.

An experienced bike friend may be able to help you but I tune it by eye, ear and by how it shifts. The derailleur gears should line up with the cassette gear so I start by setting it by eye. Ride the bike and check shifting all the way and all the way down. Is there any delay going up or down...

Amishman, if your derailleur is properly aligned you should not feel any grinding or vibration when pedaling with the Pace 500. While coasting, turn the pedals slower than the bike is moving (so you put no load on the chain), do you feel the grinding? You could slip the chain off the chainring...

You can hear the motor when it's working and the harder it pulls the louder it is but I would not call it loud.

Front spoke tension for the Level front wheel is probably the same as the Pace 500 front wheel.

The Pace 500 rear spokes are: drive side spoke, 198 mm. non-drive side 199 mm. 13g is the thickness. The Level rear wheel does have thicker 12 gauge spokes but they are probably the same length as the Pace 500 because I believe they use the same hub motor and rim. I don't know the specs of...

My Pace 500 nor 350 had that big black washer. They both have normal size tabbed washers on both sides of the axle. The tab keeps the motor torque from spinning the axle. I would contact Aventon and ask for a replacement tabbed washer because now all the motor torque is being transmitted through...
