2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Not having one myself or being as obsessed with Rally driving (it was absolutely huge in the 70s/80s) I did notice that at some point in the 80s the same lads were now all obsessed with the Audi Quattro! Which I suppose led eventually to the Mitsubishi Lancers and Colin McRae's Subaru Impreza...

great to see the Escort Mk1 still tearing around the track. Every rally fan's fav car around my neck of the woods when growing up! The Billy Coleman era!

I dont really have a horse in the race. For sake of competition in the coming Tour I like to see Jonas do well. But Pog is remarkable not just his TdF victories but his old skool attacking in every and all races. From Armstrong onwards to the Sky years they all just focused on the TdF, it seemed...

GC unchanged but with Harper gaining 5 places you now have 5 aussies in the top ten! That's pretty remarkable. If Jonas does go out of reach, the other two podium spots look a very tasty battle. At the halfway point there are 7 riders within 1 min 30 of each other. And that's not including...

Often wondered why Enric Mas has not won more, being such a good climber. Today in that duel he showed no race judgement, just played into Narvaez hands time and time again. If the fella you are with can sprint and you can't, why pull with him? No gamemanship or cunning at all. Narvaez cheeky...

I'm not a big TNT coverage fan. They get a bit hysterical for my liking. Kelly obviously is worth hearing. It's a weird hotch potch of the old Eurosport crew Kelly & Kirby, the remnants of the sacked GCN gang and this new TNT styling that is a cheap upgrade to justify their claim that they were...

It's because until somebody like Seixas proves he is a Grand Tour winner, Jonas v Pog is the only show in town. So Jonas in this season's first Grand Tour is being watched eagle eyed not for the potential of winning here but for any signs that all is not well/ or that he is going super well...

Yes some surprised reports about Jonas's TT form compared to similar TTs he did much better in the TdF in the past. They reckon he should have finished 7th or 8th today. Glad to see Eulalio kept Pink. Tomorrow has 3 or 4 big mountains so that might be it. Gall lost over a minute on Jonas but...

I was absolutely terrible at TTs. Couldn't concentrate at all, mind kept drifting. Often passed by the rider behind who'd set out 2 mins or more behind. It's a fascinating discipline. If it's wet Tuesday can change everything.

Not the biggest or steepest mountain stage but that created some big GC changes! Pellizzari had a bad day and was dropped even before the mountain ramped up to the steep sections. Felix Gall and Jonas only 2 to look competitive, even if Jonas - to me - still looking comfortable. And a storming...

I think there has been some kind of zombie apocalypse in Scotland and the BBC are keeping it all hushed up. Hence the lack of cars... or people.... ...and nobody told Rab.

Hilly towards the end but no big mountains, looks like a breakaway day. Not sure what the weather is doing and it's the Giro so anything can happen!

Tomorrow should be ok, Sunday is another mountain top finish. If he can hang on there he has it past the rest day and then it's the TT. So big incentive to climb hard! Did great today.

Interesting for Bora - only Pelizzari could keep with Jonas, Hindley dropped, but both finish together about a minute back. Hindley gets the bonus seconds so he's ahead (third) on GC. No clarification of a team leader but if they work together have a better chance against the powerhouse of Visma.

4.4km from top he breaks clear. Pelizzari held on for a long time, but it was inevitable. Felix Gall pacing himself worked very well just 13 secs behind. So questions at the end; did Jonas ease off or did the Pelizzari battle take more out of him? Very long stage, could have been drained, but it...

Yep watching, as they approach the Blockhaus. Also longest stage since 2021 so long drag, wet windy weather and the wall of the Blockhaus to finish on... rubs hands in gleeful anticipation as he sips a nice cup of tea, all comfortable and warm indoors!

My thoughts exactly. What a terrible last km of that course. Damn it Uni bet rockets were on fire, it was lining up for a spectacular sprint. If I was a sprinter I would be furious. They get few enough stages as it is. Stupid decision to use that cobbled corner at the finish.
