And it fits on the bike path!

    The transition

I don't drive enough to care what gas costs, but I did notice that we're up to around $5/gallon in my area of the CO Front Range while sitting at a red light today. Diesel was about $6.50  And from what I hear from investing channels, we haven't really felt the pain of the Hormuz saga yet

Anyone converted their Turbo Vado to tubeless tires?

No, they make them from a gallon or less all the way up to something you'd need a truck for. Just mentioned that as it might offer more versatility over something made specifically for a bike tire. They both do the same thing.

New Federal E-Bike Legislation March 2026

Yay, more legislation. This should make micromobility more accessible in an era of unaffordable everything </sarcasm>. Laws are already in place to prevent a$$hat behavior pretty much everywhere. Maybe enforce those. I can go out and buy a car that will do over 200 MPH, 0-60 in <2 seconds...

Anyone converted their Turbo Vado to tubeless tires?

Technique and patience go a long way as well. Not to say these aren't being employed, but not everyone wants to take the time to figure it out. And, as highlighted above, not everyone has the tools. That's why bike shops stay in business. I've never had a tire / wheel combo I could not...

Anyone converted their Turbo Vado to tubeless tires?

I was thinking of something like this No shortage of varieties & they may be more versatile than a bike-specific option. No compressor needed with these - you can use an inflator to charge it, which a lot of us already have. I have at least 5.

How to get the axle out??

Have you tried just tugging on the caps / adapters? Looks like it's set up for a 12mm thru axle with a 5mm skewer adapter. I have a similar set of hubs. The caps just slide off.

    The transition

I do love my stale, 24 year old Taco, but the new ones are pretty fresh.

You can also get just a portable air tank at a fraction of the price of a compressor. Then use an inflator if you have one (my inflators are all louder than my indoor compressor). Or charge it at the gas station or a buddy's place. Just use it to seat finicky tires.

Anyone converted their Turbo Vado to tubeless tires?

I have one of these in my condo. It's quieter than the HVAC & small enough to not get in the way. Easily strong enough to seat 2.5 MTB tires.

Anyone converted their Turbo Vado to tubeless tires?

Tubes are actually a good trick for getting tubeless setups to seat. I've used this method with tricky tires before. Inflate them with a tube, then let them bake in the sun for a few hours on each side. Folding tires especially come with problem areas out of the packaging and getting them to...

+1 for tubeless. The only flats I've had with them, I neglected to top up the sealant. It might just be the single best innovation ever in the history of bikes.

    The transition

I stopped by the local Toyota shop last week to order a part & poked around the lot while I was there. Kinda liking the new Tacomas. They had at least 100 sitting around. Website is offering 2-3 grand off pretty much every truck. I suspect if this holds to around the end of the year, those...

Bike RADAR - for other bikes

Scooters could be anything from fast standup scooters to actual motor scooters that you might buy at a moto shop. Most of the motorcycles I see are Sur Ron types - smaller than a traditional motorcycle, but way too fast for bike paths. By onederwheels, I mean one-wheel devices that use...

Bike RADAR - for other bikes

Anybody use any of these units - like the Garmin Varia or Wahoo, etc? I know they're designed for cars, but do they detect bikes? Our bike paths are overrun with motorcycles, scooters, onederwheels and anything else folks can think up (electric or otherwise) & I've been thinking I'd like a way...

    Have tariffs affected pricing yet?

I haven't bought a lot of bike stuff lately (stocked up on consumables knowing tariffs were coming), but it's hitting us at work. We're refusing most tariff increases, so either not buying, or finding alternatives. We were right in the middle of a $12B expansion when all this started happening...

    Cable actuated hydraulic caliper upgrade

The big problem with rim brakes is that the braking surface is close to the ground. So, they tend to get grubby. Also, good disc brakes keep the pad very close to the rotor - helping keep out funk. Also, rim brakes suck when they get wet. And if the wheel is out of true or dinged. IME...
