    Looking for opinons

when i went to the bike shop for a mirror, the owner recommended an in handle mirror which he said was his favorite type. it just screws directly into the end of the handlebar. i've been very pleased with it!

    Transporting an E-Bike by Air

I did the same when we moved, put the bike battery in our car that was going on the car hauler, no issues. I put the ebike into the moving pod without the battery because I was afraid they would freak out if they saw the battery on there and decline to pack it. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere...

Zen Photon Ultra - limited version (Bafang Ultra, Rohloff Speed hub, Gates belt drive)

good call on the thumb throttle, i have one bike with thumb throttle and one bike with twist and much prefer the thumb throttle. more natural feel and feels quite a bit safer too. i also like that the thumb throttle is on the left side where the twist throttle is on the right.

    Am I adequately covered?

Congrats on the new bike! That’s a great looking bike. With two different inserts you’ll be just fine. I’ve got two years and 2000 miles on tannus armour and no regrets. My last mountain bike, I swear I got 10 flats in a year. I got so good I could swap the tube in like 10 minutes or less. Enjoy...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

Sad situation for all involved. As a parent of an almost 12 year old boy, I can say I'm not sure I would trust him on either of my ebikes, a Rad Mission or an Aventon Pace 500. Just too much power and a little too much bike to handle. There are days I'm riding and I still feel like it's more...

    Winter Sucks

That's really cool! I'm sure you save a ton of $ and get to experience a lot of fun things not being trapped in a car. I've always found I'm engaging with my community more on the bike especially in the nicer weather. I would say going totally car-free is probably a 5 year goal of mine.

    Winter Sucks

Agreed, been a nice winter for riding. I looked at cars briefly and had some sticker shock on the monthly payments. WOW! Last car I bought was in 2015 or so, prices have sure gone up! Makes me more excited to ride my e-bike tomorrow which cost a total of $1.5K or so 2 years ago and is still...

Amtrak change policy on Electric Bikes on trains

very interesting thread, thanks for sharing! I know i've never been fully comfortable charging while not home and will even charge in the garage sometimes for peace of mind. don't know if it helps or not but makes me feel better.

    Discharging battery

Personally I’d just leave it be. May not be the best thing for battery but can’t believe it’s that big of a deal long term.

How do y'all handle flats on your rides?

did you have a bike shop do the tubeless or do it yourself? if a bike shop, do you recall the out the door cost? i'm about due for new tires and would consider it if it's reasonable.

How do y'all handle flats on your rides?

after getting quite a few flats during my commutes and getting tired of it, i put in tannus armous inserts and haven't had a flat in over 2 years (since i said that, i will likely get one next week). they add a little rolling resistance and a little weight but they've definitely paid for...

I pulled the trigger: Zen Photon

Congrats! That's a great looking bike. I'd love to hear how it rides once you get some miles on it!

E-bike battery fires and common sense prevention per Wall Street.

Tried to charge my bike inside once at my previous large corporate office and was politely told by security to take it to the bike rack. no one has ever had an issue with me bringing my battery inside and charging it at my desk though. It's kind of like space heaters. every office says you can't...

    Winter Sucks

7 to 12 inches of snow called for in Illinois this week. I’ll likely drive or work from home the first day or two and then bike later in the week to enjoy the snow!

Looking for a lightweight city/commuter bike

I would visit your local bike shop and explain your needs and budget and if they are any good they will suggest a couple to test ride. Buy the one you like the most! I did this two years ago and couldn’t have been happier!

    DOST IS NOW IN RECEIVERSHIP

Don’t think this will be the last, every time I read online about ebikes, there are price cuts all over. Seems like way too much supply and quickly dropping demand.

Pulled the trigger on the Kona El Kahuna yesterday!

Wow, that's a great price on a really nice looking bike! Excited to hear how you like it and how it rides.

Caution - Do Not Put A Deposit On a Pre-Order!

Great advice, I can't recall ever giving money for a product that didn't already exist. I gave some thoughts to the Sondors Metacycle and glad I waited on that one.

How "Mixed Mode Commuting" Can Make Your Business or Personal Life More Successful : Electric Bicycles and Public Transportation

agreed, ill tell you what though, we want car shopping recently and WOW, the cost of an e-bike sure looks a heck of a lot better after seeing what new cars cost. Our last car was purchased around 2014 or so and was a certified pre-owned low miles and i think we were out the door for under $15K...

What Do You Wear Over Your Eyes When Biking At Night (Especially During Cold Weather)?

Ive had really good luck using a clear pair of cheap safety glasses that are the athletic style. Block plenty of wind and keep any snow/rain off my eyes. I wear them at night in the summer to keep bugs out of my eyes. Great visibility even with car lights coming at me. They do fog up at stop...
